COLLEGE FOOTBALL
THOMAS CASTELLANOS, NO. 15 TEXAS TECH OUTLAST WEST VIRGINIA
Thomas Castellanos threw for a career-high five touchdowns Saturday night, including the go-ahead score with 2:44 left in the game, as No. 15 Texas Tech outlasted visiting West Virginia 53-48 in Lubbock.
Castellanos found Kenny Johnson for a 5-yard touchdown reception with 2:44 left. It was the only Red Raider touchdown of the second half after they scored six in a wild first half that took nearly two hours to play.
Castellanos completed 18 of 27 passes for 362 yards while rushing for 102 yards on 23 carries. Teammate J’Koby Williams ran for 160 yards on 19 attempts as Texas Tech (8-1, 5-1 Big 12 Conference) finished with 638 total yards.
Michael Hawkins Jr. starred in defeat for the Mountaineers (5-4, 2-4), hitting 11 of 16 passes for 303 yards and a touchdown while adding 88 yards on 19 carries. But Hawkins was sacked in the end zone with 1:24 remaining for a safety that ended West Virginia’s final chance.

GUNNER STOCKTON PRODUCES 5 TDS AS NO. 2 GEORGIA PUMMELS NO. 10 OLE MISS
Gunner Stockton threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another on Saturday night to help No. 2 Georgia cruise past No. 10 Ole Miss for a 42-7 victory in Southeastern Conference play in Oxford, Miss.
Stockton completed 9 of 15 for 186 yards while rushing for a 15-yard score for Georgia (8-1, 6-1 SEC), which avenged its Sugar Bowl loss to the Rebels from last season. Talyn Taylor caught four passes for 140 yards and three touchdowns, while Nate Frazier rushed for 107 yards for the Bulldogs, who outgained Ole Miss 481-252.
###################
DYLAN RILEY, NO. 25 BOISE STATE OVERWHELM COLORADO STATE
Running back Dylan Riley gained 300 all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns, and No. 25 Boise State beat Colorado State 64-38 for its eighth straight win Saturday in Fort Collins, Colo.
Riley rushed 19 times for 192 yards and two touchdowns, caught two passes for 88 yards and a score, and returned a kick for 20 yards for the Broncos (8-1, 5-0 Pac-12 Conference.) He finished one yard short of Doug Martin’s school record.
Max Cutforth completed 16 of 19 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns and ran for a score, leading the Broncos to a season high in points. Rasean Jones caught six passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.
###################
OKLAHOMA’S 20-PLAY TD DRIVE FUELS UPSET OF NO. 24 FLORIDA
John Mateer threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns to lead Oklahoma to a 23-7 victory over No. 24 Florida on Saturday in Gainesville, Fla.
Playing their first game under interim offensive coordinator Jason Witten following the firing of Ben Arbuckle earlier in the week, the Sooners’ offense showed plenty of life from the start.
But a drive that began late in the third quarter provided the exclamation point on Oklahoma’s most complete offensive performance of the season.
The Sooners (5-4, 3-3 SEC) put together a 20-play, 89-yard drive that consumed 12:45, their longest drive in at least 18 years.
####################
EXPLOSIVE PLAYS, TOUGH DEFENSE PROPEL NO. 19 IOWA PAST NORTHWESTERN
Hank Brown passed and ran for one touchdown apiece and Braeden Jackson returned a kickoff for a score as No. 19 Iowa defeated host Northwestern 24-10 on Saturday in Evanston, Ill.
Iowa (7-2, 4-2 Big Ten) outgained Northwestern 296-286 while limiting the Wildcats to 1-for-11 on third downs and forcing three turnovers on downs. L.J. Phillips Jr. rushed for 128 yards on 21 carries for the Hawkeyes.
################
DESEAN BISHOP, NO. 13 TENNESSEE CONTINUE DOMINATION OF NO. 6 KENTUCKY
DeSean Bishop rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns, Daune Morris scored on a long run and No. 13 Tennessee continued its home domination of No. 6 Kentucky with a convincing 34-6 victory on Saturday night in Southeastern Conference play at Knoxville, Tenn.
Mike Matthews turned a short flip into a score and the Volunteers (7-2, 4-2 SEC) recorded their fourth win in five games. Bishop carried 25 times while registering his second straight 1,000-yard season. His season total sits at 1,066.
Tennessee star Arion Carter had 13 tackles (four for loss) and two sacks in a stellar performance. Qua Moss forced two fumbles as the Vols forced three turnovers and racked up eight tackles for loss.
Kentucky (7-2, 5-2) never reached the end zone while having a six-game winning streak snapped. The Wildcats have lost 20 of their past 21 games in Knoxville.
####################
NO. 23 OREGON SCORES 38 STRAIGHT TO STUN NO. 12 OHIO STATE
Dylan Raiola threw for 257 yards and two touchdowns as No. 23 Oregon scored 38 unanswered points to rally for a 41-28 Big Ten victory over No. 12 Ohio State on Saturday in Columbus.
Hill rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns and Dakorien Moore caught seven passes for 56 yards and a score as the Ducks (6-3, 4-2 Big Ten) shrugged off a 14-0 first-quarter deficit to win for the second week in a row.
Freshman Luke Fahey made his second career start for the injured Julian Sayin and was 36 of 50 for 360 yards and two touchdowns for Ohio State (6-3, 4-2), which lost for the second straight week.
#####################
QB STEELE PIZZELLA MAKES HISTORY IN 1ST CAREER START AS NO. 16 WAKE FOREST ROUTS MERRIMACK
Wake Forest backup quarterback Steele Pizzella’s first career start became historic on Saturday as he amassed 495 combined passing and rushing yards to lead No. 16 Wake Forest to a comfortable 77-0 rout of Merrimack on Saturday night in Winston-Salem, N.C
#####################
NO. 17 HOUSTON HOLDS OFF CINCINNATI UPSET BID
Re’Shaun Sanford II rushed for 126 yards and the go-ahead touchdown Saturday, enabling No. 17 Houston to hold off visiting Cincinnati 31-24.
Sanford burst 51 yards off the left side with 5:10 left in the game to snap a tie and allow the Cougars (7-2, 4-2 Big 12) to bounce back from a 21-13 loss to Utah on Oct. 24. Quarterback Conner Weigman was 17 of 24 passing for 227 yards with a pair of scoring strikes, plus a rushing touchdown.
#####################
KEELON RUSSELL, NO. 5 ALABAMA RALLY TO BOUNCE NO. 14 LSU
Keelon Russell passed for 206 yards and three touchdowns while Alabama’s defense repeatedly turned away LSU as the No. 5 Crimson Tide claimed a 31-13 Southeastern Conference victory over the No. 14 Tigers on Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.
Ryan Coleman-Williams added a touchdown run and a key punt return for the Crimson Tide (7-2, 5-2 SEC).
Sam Leavitt completed 35 of 47 passes for 380 yards but no touchdowns for the Tigers (6-3, 3-3), who gave up the game’s final 21 points. LSU had two drives stopped inside Alabama’s 10-yard line and two others halted at the Crimson Tide’s 36.
#####################
LANORRIS SELLERS, NO. 21 GAMECOCKS GUT OUT WIN OVER MISTAKE-PRONE TEXAS A&M
LaNorris Sellers shrugged off an ankle injury to pass for 251 yards and a touchdown and ran 41 yards for an insurance score with 1:19 left as No. 21 South Carolina outlasted mistake-prone Texas A&M 17-9 on Saturday in a Southeastern Conference clash in Columbia, South Carolina.
The Gamecocks (6-3, 4-3 SEC) took the lead for good on Malik Orsan’s 43-yard field goal with 8:14 to play.
Texas A&M (4-5, 1-5) had two possessions to flip the game after Orsan’s kick. The first ended with a punt after back-to-back dropped passes near midfield by Isaiah Horton; the second finished with Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed sacked on fourth down and seven with 1:27 to play.
###################
RALEEK BROWN SCORES TWICE AS NO. 7 TEXAS DISPATCHES NO. 18 MISSOURI
Arch Manning threw three touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score to Raleek Brown in the fourth quarter, to lead No. 7 Texas to a 34-20 victory at No. 18 Missouri in Southeastern Conference play at Columbia, Mo., on Saturday afternoon.
Brown scored twice overall, both in the fourth quarter, and added 85 yards rushing in a key game for College Football Playoff position.
Jermaine Bishop Jr. and Derrek Cooper also scored on Manning passes, helping Texas (7-2, 4-2 Southeastern Conference) set up another tough conference game at LSU next week.
####################
NO. 8 UCLA OUTCLASSES MINNESOTA FOR 9-0 START
Ty Dieffenbach passed for 303 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 8 UCLA surged in the second half for a 34-20 win over Minnesota on Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis.
Wayne Knight added 109 rushing yards and a touchdown for UCLA (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten Conference), which has won its first nine games of the season for the first time since 1998. Aidan Mizell had two catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns, and Noah Fox-Flores caught a touchdown pass.
Drake Lindsey completed 19 of 37 passes for 205 yards, one touchdown and one interception for Minnesota (5-4, 3-3). Darius Taylor rushed for 46 yards and a score, and George Rohl caught a touchdown pass.
#####################
NO. 3 UTAH OWNS SECOND HALF TO RACE PAST NO. 9 BYU 28-20
Devon Dampier passed for 177 yards with two touchdowns and ran for 87 yards with two more scores as undefeated No. 3 Utah outlasted No. 9 BYU 28-20 on Saturday afternoon in a titanic Big 12 Conference showdown in Salt Lake City.
The Utes (9-0, 6-0 Big 12) roared out of the gate in the latest edition of the Holy War by scoring two touchdowns early in the game before BYU rallied with 20 consecutive points to carry a six-point lead to halftime.
Utah regained the lead late in the third quarter and added to the margin early in the fourth.
Trailing 28-20, the Cougars (7-2, 4-2) drove to the Utes’ 2-yard line before quarterback Bear Bachmeier was intercepted for the third time in the game, this one by Trey Reynolds with 4:39 to play.
BYU had a final possession, taking over at its own 48-yard line with 54 seconds left and no timeouts. Bachmeier’s eventual Hail Mary pass was picked off in the end zone with 2 seconds left.

NFL
WEEK 9 NFL CAPSULES
Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) vs. Atlanta Falcons (3-5) in Madrid
Sunday, 9:30 a.m.
FanDuel odds: Bengals -3, Total 52.5
Series rewind: Cincinnati has won the last three meetings, including a 35-17 victory at home in the most recent clash on Oct. 23, 2022. The Falcons are 1-3 in international games and the Bengals are 0-1-1.
The NFL’s second game in Spain could see some fireworks as Bengals star Joe Burrow seeks to become the fourth QB in league history to throw four or more touchdown passes in four consecutive games (Peyton Manning, Dan Marino and Tom Brady are the others). His favorite target, Ja’Marr Chase, needs one TD reception to join Randy Moss as the only players in NFL history with at least seven TD grabs in each of their first six seasons. Falcons star running back Bijan Robinson can also carve a place in the record book by becoming the fifth player with 35 games of 100-plus scrimmage yards at age 25 or younger (Clinton Portis, Ezekiel Elliott, Edgerrin James and Emmitt Smith are the others). Atlanta wide receiver Drake London has an international name and an international game, having tallied 104 yards and a TD against the Colts last year in Berlin. Cincinnati is on a three-game winning streak while Atlanta is coming off a turnover-filled 16-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Only the winless Los Angeles Chargers (17) have more giveaways than the Falcons (16).
Detroit Lions (5-2) at Miami Dolphins (1-6)
Sunday, 1 p.m.
FanDuel odds: Lions -7, Total 50.5
Series rewind: The Lions have won three of the past four meetings, but Miami won the most recent tussle between these teams in October 2022. Tua Tagovailoa threw for 382 yards and completed 12 passes to Tyreek Hill in the 31-27 win, which bumped Miami to 5-3 and dropped the Lions to 1-6.
The Lions picked up more than 40 degrees on their trek from Detroit to South Beach, where head coach Dan Campbell isn’t afraid to make the game a run-heavy, physical confrontation. Led by Jared Goff, who continues to be one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the league (168 of 248 for 1,964 yards, 15 touchdowns and one interception), the Lions will try to exploit a Dolphins defense that ranks 24th in points allowed per game (25.9) and 25th in yards allowed per play (5.7). Jahmyr Gibbs remains one of the NFL’s top backs, averaging 4.9 yards per carry and 110.4 rushing yards per game. Miami has struggled in the passing game, on both sides of the ball. Opposing quarterbacks have combined for an NFL-high 119.5 passer rating against the Dolphins, while Miami quarterback Malik Willis owns a 79.7 rating through seven games. The Lions rank last in the league in passing yards allowed per game, which could create an opportunity for Willis to have success. Miami has found consistency on the ground behind Ollie Gordon II, who has rushed for 408 yards and four touchdowns and helped offset some of the Dolphins’ offensive struggles.
Los Angeles Rams (4-4) at Washington Commanders (2-4-1)
Sunday, 1 p.m.
FanDuel odds: Rams -4.5, Total 47.5
Series rewind: The Rams have won the past two meetings but trail the overall series 24-13-1. The last meeting was in 2023.
Washington seeks consecutive wins for the first time since a four-game run to close the 2024 season. The Commanders are two games behind the NFC East-leading New York Giants (4-2-1), who host the Commanders on Nov. 12. The Rams have won two in a row, including a 24-9 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers last week. The Rams are tied with the Seattle Seahawks for second in the NFC West behind the San Francisco 49ers (6-1). Los Angeles All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett practiced this week and is pushing to return. Matthew Stafford passed for 157 yards with a touchdown and an interception against the Chargers in Week 8. The Rams boast the NFL’s fourth-ranked offense (384.4 yards per game). The Commanders are 20th (327.1). Washington’s Jayden Daniels has yet to throw an interception this season in five games. Last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, he completed 16 of 29 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown to Stefon Diggs. Washington scored 27 unanswered points in a 27-10 home victory.
New York Giants (4-2-1) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (2-6)
Sunday, 1 p.m.
FanDuel odds: Giants -3, Total 38.5
Series rewind: The Giants have lost 13 consecutive games in Philadelphia, with their last win at Lincoln Financial Field coming on Oct. 27, 2013. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni is 8-3 against New York, including the postseason.
The script has officially flipped in the NFC East, where the first-place Giants visit the last-place Eagles. And no one could have predicted this quarterback matchup two months ago: J.J. McCarthy makes his second start for New York while Joe Milton III will make his first NFL start for Philadelphia. The Eagles rank 32nd in total offense (265.3 yards per game) and 30th in scoring (17.1 points per game). They have not gained more than 341 yards or scored more than 24 points in any game this season. They face a Giants defense that ranks third against the pass (184.9 yards per game). Both teams have struggled to generate a pass rush, as their combined 19 sacks (Philadelphia with 10, New York with nine) are fewer than 12 teams entering Week 9. There are hamstring injuries worth watching on both offenses: Giants running back Cam Skattebo, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith all missed practices to start the week. Smith hasn’t been on the field since Week 6.
Denver Broncos (6-2) vs. Carolina Panthers (3-4)
Sunday, 1 p.m.
FanDuel odds: Broncos -2.5, Total 43.5
Series rewind: The Broncos hold a 7-2 lead in the all-time series, including a 24-10 victory in Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, Calif. The Panthers posted a 23-10 victory the last time they met in Charlotte on Nov. 27, 2022.
In this clash of division leaders, Carolina doesn’t want to get into a close game with Denver. The Broncos have won 15 straight regular-season games that have been decided by one score, matching the 2008-09 Colts for the longest streak in NFL history. Since 1970, no quarterback has led more game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime in his first three seasons than Denver’s Bo Nix, who did it for the 15th time last week to beat the Chiefs. Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton leads the league with 101 tackles and is one of only two players since 2000 to reach triple digits in his team’s first eight games (Zaire Franklin of the Colts in 2023 was the other). Carolina quarterback Bryce Young has thrown at least one TD pass in nine straight games. Since catching 14 passes for 192 yards and two TDs in the Panthers’ Week 4 win against Detroit, reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Tetairoa McMillan has a combined 16 receptions for 184 yards and no scores in his last three games.
Dallas Cowboys (3-5) at Indianapolis Colts (2-6)
Sunday, 1 p.m.
FanDuel odds: Cowboys -5.5, Total 51.5
Series rewind: Dallas leads the series 11-7 and has won four of the last five games against Indianapolis, including a 54-19 home trouncing the last time they played in 2022.
Not much has gone right in the first half of the season for the Colts, who will carry the burden of a four-game losing streak and the weight of roster roulette when they face Dallas. Before their 42-7 loss last week at Jacksonville, Indianapolis traded All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner. After the loss, Indianapolis reportedly rejected at least one offer for running back Jonathan Taylor, who is fourth in the NFL in carries (148), tied for third in rushing touchdowns (eight) and eighth in rushing yards (610) and continues to be used in a feature role even with his future with the Colts uncertain. Indianapolis has been outscored by 61 points and ranks last in the NFL in turnover margin (minus-11). Last week, the Cowboys blew a 17-3 second-half lead at home and handed the Cardinals a 33-30 overtime win. While Dallas has lost three of its last four games, it is only one game back in the win column for the NFC East lead. The Cowboys have scored 30 points five times this season but are only 3-2 in those games. They’re 1-11 under second-year coach Brian Schottenheimer when they don’t score 30 points in a game.
Cleveland Browns (5-3) at New Orleans Saints (2-5)
Sunday, 1 p.m.
FanDuel odds: Saints -3, Total 43.5
Series rewind: The Browns lead the all-time series 13-7 but New Orleans has won the last three matchups to narrow the gap.
Deshaun Watson has already led five game-winning drives in the fourth quarter and overtime, a major reason for Cleveland’s surprise success in the first half of the season. But the Browns must go without their starting QB this week after he entered concussion protocol. Shedeur Sanders takes over for at least Week 9. Sanders, a fifth-round draft pick last year, started seven games as a rookie, going 3-4 while completing 56.6 percent of his passes for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He will need to get the offense off to a stronger start; Cleveland has been outscored 65-13 in the first quarter this season. That has also been a problem for the Saints, who have been outscored 44-6 in the first quarter. New Orleans is coming off a bye during which head coach Kellen Moore fired run game coordinator T.J. Paganetti. The Saints rank 28th in the NFL in rushing offense (86.0 yards per game), and they had just 18 yards on 17 rushes in their last game, a 16-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 25 in Paris. That has made things hard on QB Tyler Shough, who has still managed to throw for 1,721 yards, 13 TDs and six interceptions in seven games. The INTs match his total as a rookie last season.
Houston Texans (2-5) at Los Angeles Chargers (0-7)
Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Texans -3.5, Total 39.5
Series rewind: Houston has won three of the past four meetings in the regular season, including 20-16 at Los Angeles last season.
The Chargers began this season with dreams of playing in a home-stadium Super Bowl in Inglewood, Calif.; then they went 0-for-September and October. The lone winless team in the NFL is off to the worst start in franchise history. Houston stumbled out of the starting blocks for the second consecutive season. It appeared to be finding its way last month while giving vibes of the team’s nine-game winning streak to close last season, but its bid for a third consecutive victory was thwarted in a 27-21 overtime loss to the New York Giants on Oct. 25. After C.J. Stroud threw for a season-low 153 yards against New York, the team spent its bye week trying to figure out ways to get better balance. The season-low effort came one week after Stroud was named AFC Player of the Week for his 312-yard, three-touchdown performance in a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Stroud has the offense seventh in the NFL in passing with 253.4 yards per game. Houston’s ground game ranks 29th with an average of 84.7 rushing yards. There is no deeper hole than the one where the Chargers are buried. Their defense looked up to the task last Sunday by not allowing a first down over the Los Angeles Rams’ first five drives of the game. Quarterback Justin Herbert had a season-high 257 yards passing in the defeat, but his two interceptions gave him 10 on the season, most in the NFL. Two years ago, Herbert threw just three picks while starting all 17 games.
New York Jets (2-6) at Kansas City Chiefs (5-2)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Chiefs -9.5, Total 47.5
Series rewind: The Jets last won in Kansas City in 1998 and have since dropped four visits in a row. The Chiefs have also controlled the overall series recently with four victories in the past five meetings. Harrison Butker kicked a 26-yard field goal with 10:51 remaining for a 23-20 Kansas City victory in the last meeting in 2023.
The Chiefs have slipped into second place in the AFC West with consecutive road losses to the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos. They are back at home this week and look to get back on track before they play four of their five on the road. Patrick Mahomes matched a season best with three touchdown passes and had his second-highest yardage output (321) in last week’s 28-24 loss in Denver. Running back Emmett Johnson had five catches for 128 yards, including a 73-yard score, while Travis Kelce had five grabs for 67 yards. Rashee Rice returned from the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 4 and had seven catches for 53 yards and a touchdown. Kenneth Walker has rushed for just 105 yards on 35 carries the last two weeks. He had 665 yards through the first five games. The Chiefs have just nine sacks through seven games. New York has lost three straight games and is entering a stretch of three road contests in four games. The Jets notched a season high in points last week but also allowed their most while falling 38-33 to the visiting Las Vegas Raiders. New York’s Geno Smith passed for 290 yards and two touchdowns while Braelon Allen rushed for a career-best 147 yards in his second straight 100-yard outing and third of the season. Allen is 10th in the NFL with 565 rushing yards. Star wideout Garrett Wilson (concussion) is out.
Las Vegas Raiders (4-4) at San Francisco 49ers (6-1)
Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: 49ers -9.5, Total 51.5
Series rewind: San Francisco has won five of the past six meetings, with the first five taking place while the Raiders were still based in Oakland. The 49ers prevailed 37-34 in an overtime shootout in Las Vegas late in the 2022 season. Christian McCaffrey had 193 scrimmage yards (121 rushing, 72 receiving) and rushed for a touchdown in that contest.
The 49ers’ unbeaten run was halted two weeks ago out in a 29-20 loss to the host Atlanta Falcons. San Francisco had its bye last week. McCaffrey (hamstring) was injured against the Falcons and was a limited participant in practice Thursday. McCaffrey’s highest rushing output this season is just 75 yards, but he does have eight rushing touchdowns. Brock Purdy has passed for 1,748 yards and 15 touchdowns against four interceptions. He threw two picks against Atlanta. Tight end George Kittle leads the club with 425 receiving yards and five touchdowns and is tied with McCaffrey (34) for the receptions lead. Cornerback Renardo Green has all three of San Francisco’s interceptions. Former Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa (knee, calf) was limited Thursday and could return after a five-game absence. The Raiders broke a four-game skid with last week’s 38-33 victory over the host New York Jets. Kirk Cousins threw for 247 yards and had three passing scores for the fourth time that season. Overall, he has 19 touchdowns against five interceptions and has played well enough to keep the organization from being tempted to replace him with No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza. Mike Washington Jr., a fourth-round pick this season, rushed for 83 yards on 25 carries against the Jets. Ashton Jeanty, the No. 6 overall pick of the 2025 draft, received just two carries for 9 yards despite being healthy. Maxx Crosby registered a sack against New York, his third of the season.
Arizona Cardinals (3-5) at Seattle Seahawks (4-4)
Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Seahawks -8.5, Total 39.5
Series rewind: The Seahawks are gunning for their 11th consecutive win in the series, which includes a 31-7 victory at Arizona in September.
Gardner Minshew took over as the Cardinals’ starting quarterback after rallying Arizona from a 17-3 deficit in the third quarter at Dallas last week. A few days later, Jacoby Brissett, who started the first eight games of the season, was traded to the Baltimore Ravens. The Seahawks kept the QB carousel spinning for this game as they ruled out Sam Darnold with a quadriceps injury. Drew Lock will start for the second time this season against the Cardinals. He is coming back from a two-game hiatus to treat an elbow injury. Lock threw three TD passes at Arizona in Seattle’s 24-point win in Week 2. The Seahawks expect other backfield reinforcements to be available. Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price could give Seattle a loaded RB corps with Emanuel Wilson, who rushed for 92 yards against Arizona in the first matchup. Cardinals running back Tyler Allgeier had 191 yards from scrimmage at Dallas.
Green Bay Packers (5-3) at New England Patriots (5-3)
Sunday, 4:25 p.m.
FanDuel odds: Patriots -3, Total 44.5
Series rewind: Green Bay leads the series 7-6, won the last game the teams played 27-24 in overtime in 2022 and beat the Patriots 35-21 in Super Bowl XXXI in January 1997.
After each got off to slow starts, both teams have won four of their last five games. Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love is averaging 280.8 passing yards per game, has thrown 16 touchdowns passes and been intercepted six times. Love leads the NFL with 2,246 passing yards and is also No. 1 among quarterbacks in pass attempts of at least 20 yards (52). Green Bay has been forced to throw because of its lackluster running game. The Packers are averaging 2.9 yards per carry, last in the league. Green Bay could become the first NFL team to finish a season with a rushing average of less than 3.0 yards per carry since the 1994 Patriots. New England quarterback Drake Maye got off to an exceptionally slow start in the follow-up campaign to finishing second in MVP voting last season. He has passed for 15 touchdowns and has been intercepted eight times, but has 14 TD passes and two interceptions in his last five games. He’ll be facing a Green Bay defense that has forced 15 turnovers, second-most in the NFL. Ten of those turnovers have been interceptions. Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson leads the Patriots with 119 touches; no other player has more than 57. Stevenson has a team-high 367 rushing yards, and his 23 catches rank third on the team.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-5) at Chicago Bears (6-2)
Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Bears -6.5, Total 47.5
Series rewind: Tampa Bay has won four of the last six matchups, with the victories coming by an average of 23.3 points. Baker Mayfield passed for 317 yards and one touchdown in the most recent meeting as the Buccaneers posted a 27-17 home victory in 2023. The Bears have dropped the past three home games in the series.
The Buccaneers have become a run-heavy team since Mayfield returned from a dislocated thumb on his passing hand. They accumulated a stunning 582 yards on the ground combined in consecutive victories. Last week, Tampa Bay became the first team since the 1974 Buffalo Bills to win a game without completing a pass. It racked up a franchise-record 324 rushing yards in a 16-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Bucky Irving rushed for 170 yards and Kenneth Gainwell added 140. Tampa Bay now leads the NFL with 168.6 rushing yards per game. Mayfield threw just three passes against Atlanta and has attempted just 14 over the past two games. The Bears have won three straight games since Caleb Williams returned from his hamstring injury. Chicago scored more than 30 points in all three contests, including Monday’s 34-17 road win over the Seattle Seahawks. Williams passed for more than 300 yards in the first two games of the stretch before settling for 247 and one touchdown against Seattle. Chicago owns the league’s second-best rushing attack at 150.8 yards per game, but the Bears were better on the ground over the first four games when Kyle Monangai rushed for 324 yards and three touchdowns. Monangai (toe, thumb) has missed the past four games and also didn’t partake in practices on Wednesday or Thursday. The contest will be the second for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons since the Bears acquired him from the Tennessee Titans. He had two tackles for loss and a sack in his Chicago debut.

Warriors 126, Magic 119 (OT)
Stephen Curry’s three-point play with 1:38 left in overtime put his team in front for good, his driving hoop 44 seconds later gave him a 41-point night and Golden State downed short-handed Orlando in San Francisco.

He added seven rebounds and six assists. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Aaron Wiggins both scored 20, with Wiggins putting up 12 in the final quarter.

Since news broke that Kucherov wants out of Tampa Bay, he has a goal and six assists in four games. In OT on Saturday, one of the franchise’s all-time greats took the puck between the circles and fired in a shot to end a long sequence in the Minnesota end.Read Daily News

An eagle at the par-5 11th hole Saturday helped Spain’s Jon Rahm seize a one-shot lead entering the final round of the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship in the United Arab Emirates.
The two-time major winner opened birdie-eagle-birdie on the back nine on his way to a 6-under 6 to move to 18-under 198 at Yas Links GC.

AKI IWAI TAKES 1-SHOT LEAD INTO FINAL ROUND AT JAPAN CLASSIC
Aki Iwai carded a bogey-free 6-under 66 on Saturday to take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Toto Japan Classic in Omitama.
Iwai moved to 15-under 201 with three birdies on the front nine and three on the back at the Taiheiyo Club Minori Course north of Tokyo. The 24-year-old from Japan is looking for her second LPGA Tour title and first since winning The Standard Portland Classic in August 2025.
“So many spectators here and I’m so glad because … they always show me so much love all the time. And then I got confidence. That’s why I’m glad,” Iwai said.
Right on her heels is Thailand’s Arpichaya Yubol, who shot the low round of the day with a 65 to move to 14-under. Yubol had one bogey and eight birdies, including birdies at three of the four par-3 holes.

CHASE BRISCOE SETS PACE, WINS HOMESTEAD POLE
HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Unseasonably warm temperatures in the high-80s, sunny skies and a championship vibe greeted teams at Homestead-Miami Speedway for Friday’s all-important Busch Light Pole Qualifying session to set the grid for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race (3 p.m. ET on NBC, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Chase Briscoe ultimately proved himself coolest among the competitors and conditions, claiming the top starting spot with a lap of 166.687 mph in the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota – the second pole position of the season and second in just the last three weeks (also at Talladega, Ala.) – for the 31-year-old Indiana-native.
“I feel confident we can contend, but I wouldn’t say I was the dominant car,” Briscoe said. “I definitely feel really really good about it [the race]. I think we’ll be in the mix tomorrow and if we execute, definitely up there.”
Briscoe, a three-race winner this year, edged his JGR teammate Denny Hamlin by only .017-second to claim his 11th career pole. Importantly, however, Hamlin’s front row start in the No. 11 JGR Toyota leads the three drivers still championship eligible heading into Sunday’s season finale.
The championship leader, Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson will roll off the 40-car grid from fourth position in the No. 5 Chevrolet. The final driver still vying for the season trophy, JGR’s Christopher Bell, was sixth quickest in the No. 20 JGR Toyota.
Larson holds a commanding 67-point advantage on Bell and a 70-point edge on Hamlin, a three-time Homestead winner. The two JGR teammates both acknowledged all week the long odds of taking the season trophy away from Larson, who is looking to earn a third series title and could become the first driver to win consecutive championships since another Hendrick Motorsports driver, Jimmie Johnson won five straight from 2006-2010.
Larson, who won in the series’ last race here in March, 2025, said he wasn’t entirely satisfied with his qualifying work – his Chevrolet better than he showed on the lap around the South Florida 1.5-miler. But he likes his chances on Sunday and the forward position he’ll start from.
“We qualified well and it’s a long race,” Larson said. “I’m happy to qualify in the front two rows. … we’ll see. There’s going to be fast guys coming from behind too so just hoping we can stay in the top-10 all day.”
The 33-year-old Californian Larson need only finish eighth or better to earn his third title and on Saturday characterized his team’s approach to the weekend as “extremely loose” and “pretty relaxed” – revealing crew members were debating Saturday if a hot dog is a sandwich and if cereal is a soup. Larson smiled, saying “no” to both.
23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick was third quickest in the session, giving Toyota a top-three sweep at the front of the Homestead grid for the third time in the last four races here.
Behind Larson is Team Penske’s Austin Cindric with Bell, Hendrick teammates Chase Elliott and last week’s Martinsville (Va.) Speedway winner William Byron, Penske’s Ryan Blaney and Spire Motorsports Daniel Suarez rounding out the top-10 starting positions.
Of note, the 2012 series champion Brad Keselowski hit the wall exciting Turn 4 on his qualifying lap, spinning his No. 6 Roush Fenway Keselowski Ford Mustang down into the inside wall. He was okay but will make his final full-time start for the team from last place on the 40-car grid.
“I was trying to run the bottom lane in (turns) three and four because the track was so slick, and wanted to see if I could find something down there,” Keselowski said, “and I found something, just wasn’t what I was looking for.”
Although Hamlin just missed out on the pole position Saturday, he was honored for his series best six on the season – the largest single season haul of his career.

INDIANA PACERS
Game Recap
The Pacers matched up with the Denver Nuggets on Saturday as the pair of teams clashed in the NBA’s 35th overall game held in Mexico City, and 16th regular season game. Indiana trailed by as many as 27 points, rallied back within eight points in the final two minutes, but ultimately fell to the Nuggets, 114-102.
The game was technically a Pacers home game, but the Nuggets had a big advantage in Mexico – Mexico City sits at 7,350 feet above sea level. That’s over 2,000 feet higher in altitude than Denver, who regularly plays at 5,280 feet. Conditioning was a major point of emphasis for coach Rick Carlisle as he prepared Indiana for Saturday’s game.
“If you’re not used to the altitude and everything it’s just kind of hard to get going,” Pascal Siakam said. “So the first half was pretty tough for us. Obviously, I thought we had some good shots. We didn’t make them, which doesn’t help, but I thought our force and energy was way better in the second half, and that’s the way we’ve got to start the game.”
The Pacers opened the game shooting 8-for-27 from the floor, and trailed by 10 points in the last two minutes of the opening quarter. A late surge from the Blue and Gold had Indiana back within six points with under seven seconds remaining, but Nikola Jokic knocked down a pair of free throws to give the Nuggets an eight-point advantage heading into the second, 27-19.
Ivica Zubac had a productive first frame as he scored six points, grabbed six rebounds, and recorded two assists.
After shooting just 1-for-9 from beyond the arc in the first quarter, the Pacers knocked down three straight triples to open the second. Andrew Nembhard hit first, then Larry Nance Jr. connected from deep on back to back possessions as the Pacers rallied to come within six points, 34-28. Denver went on to score 15 unanswered points, and the Pacers trailed by 21 points, 49-28. Indiana found some momentum down the stretch, but went into halftime trailing by 23 points, 64-41.
T.J. McConnell made his season debut on Saturday after rehabbing a hamstring injury to start the season. He played just nine minutes in the first half, but recorded six points, two rebounds, and an assist in his return to action.
The Pacers put together a 15-5 run to cut the Denver lead to 12, 79-67, with just under five minutes remaining in the third quarter. Indiana hung tough on defense, generating multiple stops and allowing the momentum to flow into the offense. Indiana shot 4-for-5 from deep in the first seven minutes of the third quarter to claw back within 12 points of the Nuggets.
Nance Jr. tied a career-high as he hit his fourth and fifth 3-pointers of the game late in the third. The Pacers still trailed by 15 points, 88-73, but Obi Toppin banked in another triple at the end of the shot clock to cut the lead back down to 12. Quenton Jackson’s fast break layup cut the lead to 10 with under a minute to play in the third, 88-78.
Indiana held on to trail by 12 points heading into the fourth quarter, 90-78.
Jarace Walker’s crafty layup finally cut the lead to single digits, 99-90, as Indiana continued to fight into the fourth quarter. Walker was critical in the fourth – after cutting the lead to single digits, he knocked down a triple to bring the Pacers even closer. Indiana trailed by just seven points with seven minutes to play after trailing by as many as 27 points.
Indiana fought until the buzzer, but fell to Denver, 114-102.
Siakam’s 23 points led Indiana, while Zubac recorded a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double through foul trouble. Siakam reached 13,000 career points on Saturday, which was also his 700th career game. Offense didn’t come easily for the Pacers on Saturday – they shot just 45 percent from the field and 31 percent from 3-point range.
Jokic’s 19 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists led the Nuggets, while Cam Johnson notched 18 points, and Jamal Murray contributed 16 points.
Inside the Numbers
Indiana committed just 10 turnovers – a new season-low.
The Pacers outscored the Nuggets in fast break points, 21-8.
The Pacers managed to score just 41 points in the first half, but recorded 61 points in the second half.
Jalen Slawson had the best plus/minus for Indiana – the Pacers outscored the Nuggets by 13 points in his minutes.
Ivica Zubac’s 10-point, 12-rebound double-double marks his second of the season. He also recorded five assists.

INDY FUEL
FISHERS- The Indy Fuel hosted the Kalamazoo Wings for the first time this season on Saturday night. Ultimately, the K-Wings claimed a 3-2 OT victory after coming back to tie it in the third period.
1ST PERIOD
Kalamazoo’s Cooper Walker took the game’s first penalty at 2:30 for hooking. This put Indy on an early power play. While they put pressure on, they could not score.
Indy earned another power play chance when Spencer Kennedy was sent to the penalty box for interference at 8:55. That penalty was also quickly killed off.
Both teams had a lot of good chances during the remainder of the first period but neither team scored. After one frame, shots were tied, 6-6.
2ND PERIOD
Chase Dafoe opened the scoring at 6:21 in the second period with the help of Cody Laskosky. This put the Fuel up 1-0, but things started getting chippy between these two divisional opponents.
At 17:36, Indy’s Tommy Budnick took a holding penalty. This put the K-Wings on the power play, however the Fuel killed it off right before a fight broke out in front of Indy’s net. There were no penalties as a result.
It was only thirty seconds until the end of the period and the fighting continued after time expired too. Only Kalamazoo’s Walker earned a roughing penalty that would be served at the start of the third period.
After two frames, Indy was up by one shot and one goal.
3RD PERIOD
The Fuel started the period on the power play, but the K-Wings killed off the roughing minor from the second period.
24 seconds after that, Kalamazoo’s Noel Edfeldt tied things up with a rebound goal. Just eleven seconds after that, however, Jadon Joseph gave Indy their lead back with a goal assisted by Dustin Manz.
Tyler Gratton scored for the K-Wings at 7:34 to tie the game again, this time at 2-2.
Neither team was able to score again before time expired in regulation. This forced another overtime game for the Fuel in their early season.
OVERTIME
28 seconds into the 3-on-3 overtime period, Kalamazoo’s Ryan Cox scored the game-winning goal to claim the victory 3-2 for the K-Wings on Saturday night.

PURDUE FOOTBALL
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Purdue football team dropped its Homecoming matchup against Maryland on Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium, falling 34-29.
Quarterback Ryan Browne was 24-of-38 for 296 yards. He connected with eight different receivers, led in receptions by Fame Ijboi’s and Xavier Townsend’s five and receiving yards by Tra’Mar Harris’ 76.
The Boilermakers (3-6, 2-4 B1G) put together seven scoring drives throughout the contest (two touchdowns, five field goals).
Kicker Jacobo Echeverria Lozano made history to open the scoring. The freshman drilled a 47-yard kick on Purdue’s opening drive to take sole control of the Purdue freshman record for field goals in a season. Echeverria Lozano connected four times in the first half, the most by a Boilermaker in a half since Mitchell Fineran hit four on Nov. 6, 2021 against Michigan State. He finished the game a perfect 5-for-5, the second most by a Boilermaker in program history and the most since Fineran made five in the 2022 Big Ten Championship game.
The Boilermaker defense held Maryland (3-6, 1-5 B1G) behind its own 33-yard line for all but one time on the opening five drives. Big stops included a sack from CJ Madden and an interception from Trey Smith, helping Purdue lead 12-7 at the break.
After Maryland scored 21 straight points between the second and third quarters, Purdue responded with a six-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 30-yard Townsend jet sweep touchdown.
Echeverria Lozano tacked on a 22-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, but Maryland used touchdowns of 75 and 87 yards to open a 34-22 lead.
Purdue responded with a 13-play, 75-yard drive that was capped off by Ijeboi’s two-yard rushing score to cut the lead to five with 3:50 remaining. The Purdue defense forced a Maryland punt that gave Purdue life with the ball on their own five-yard line down 34-29 with 1:01 remaining in the game.
The Boilermakers pushed the ball all the way to the Maryland 11-yard line with five seconds remaining before a sack on the final play ended the game.
Purdue returns to the field next Saturday, Nov. 14 for a primetime matchup at Iowa. Kickoff will be either 7 p.m. ET on FS1 or 7:30 p.m. on NBC.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 14 Purdue Boilermakers (16-7, 9-5 Big Ten) took down the UCLA Bruins (16-9, 7-7 Big Ten) in four sets for a senior night victory in Holloway Gymnasium 22-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-22.
Grace Heaney led all players on the attack, registering a season-high 21 kills on a .472% clip. With 14 digs, Heaney registered her seventh double-double of the season. In the opening frame, the redshirt junior recorded five kills on a .500% clip.
Senior setter Taylor Anderson dished out 60 assists which not only tied her career-high and set a new season match-high, but marked the most by a Big Ten player and became one of four players in the nation to record as many assists in a four-set match this season, all while leading the Boilermakers to a .273% efficiency. Anderson added 10 digs for her sixth double-double this year, along with five kills.
With her 20 kills, Addy Tindall broke into the top-five for kills by freshman hitters in Purdue history. Tindall surpassed Grace Cleveland (2018- 306 kills) with 317 total kills this season. Along with an elite offensive performance, Tindall set a career-high in blocks, teaming up with Purdue blockers to stuff UCLA five times.

Four Boilermakers ended the match in double-digit digs, Ryan McAleer (23), Heaney (14), MaryKate Scheumann (13), and Anderson (10). At libero, McAleer notched her second 20+ dig performance of the season and set a season-high in conference play.
Freshman defensive specialist Scheumann stuffed the stat sheet with 13 digs, four assists, a team-leading two service aces, and perfect reception.

PURDUE WRESTLING
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — The Purdue wrestling team cruised to a 30-12 victory over Air Force on Day 1 of the Throwdown on the Yorktown event.
While wrestling on the top deck of the USS Yorktown (CV-10) aircraft carrier, the Boilermakers (2-0, 0-0 Big Ten) dominated the Falcons (1-1, 0-0 Pac-12) with seven match wins, including five bonus-point victories.
Ashton Jackson got the party started at 125 pounds with his first victory of the season. He beat Bradley Patterson in a 7-3 decision, rallying from an early takedown to go on a seven-point scoring streak with a takedown, two escapes, a penalty point for stalling and a riding time point.
Vincent Paino (133) had the biggest win of the day when he pinned Jacob Jones to give Purdue six team points. Jones got in on Paino’s leg midway through the second period, but the Boilermaker continued to rotate and gained leverage to turn his opponent onto his back, securing Purdue’s first pin of the season.
No. 24 Isaiah Schaefer (141) had a hard-fought battle with 2026 All-American Carter Nogle, who is ranked No. 4 in the country, but dropped a close 4-2 decision. Schaefer fell into a 4-1 hole but escaped in the third period and began to apply pressure, nearly winning a scramble at the end of the match to steal a victory.
Gavin Brown (149) picked up the slack and dominated in a 17-2 technical fall over Lincoln Gregersen. Brown secured seven back points and 3:15 of riding time, with the riding time point giving him the 15-point technical fall margin.
Another newcomer in the Boilermaker lineup, Brody Saccoccia (157) earned his first career dual victory aboard the Yorktown. He defeated Arment Waltenbaugh in a 7-1 decision, scoring seven straight points beginning with a takedown in the second period.
No. 3 Joey Blaze (165) finished strong in a 17-4 major decision victory, coming up one takedown short of a technical fall. Purdue’s two-time All-American picked up the pace in the third period, scoring three quick takedowns while accumulating 1:53 of riding time. His season takedown total now stands at 12 after just two matches.
No. 22 Brody Baumann (174) sped his way to a 21-6 technical fall in the first period, finishing the match at the 2:58 mark with seven takedowns. Baumann now has two technical falls to start his final year of eligibility, by a combined score of 40-10. It was the third-fastest technical fall of Baumann’s career.
James Rowley (184) looked sharp in a 14-6 major decision, picking up four takedowns and 3:10 of riding time. It was the Corvallis, Oregon, native’s first bonus-point victory of the season and the ninth major decision of his college career.
Air Force took the final two matches against Noah Weaver (197) and Austin Richens (285), earning a pin and a 5-0 decision, respectively.
The Boilermakers outscored Air Force in total takedowns, 23-5, and scored 30 dual points for the first time since winning 38-4 at Davidson on Nov. 23, 2025.

The Jaguars doubled the lead in the opening minute of the second half on a brilliant strike from Swift for her second goal of the season. BALL STATE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
MUNCIE, Ind. — Despite a dominant double-double performance from graduate forward Tessa Towers, the Ball State women’s basketball team suffered its first setback of the season, falling 78-71 to High Point University on Saturday afternoon at Worthen Arena.
The Cardinals (1-1) fought through a cold-shooting night but couldn’t quite overtake the Panthers (3-0), who stayed in control behind hot outside shooting. Towers anchored the interior for Ball State with a team-high 23 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman Lilli Barnes delivered an explosive spark off the bench, matching her with 20 points along with 7 rebounds.
The intensity was high from the opening tip as two of the nation’s premier mid-major programs went neck-and-neck early on. High Point found its offensive rhythm first, capitalizing on a cold stretch from the Cardinals to mount an 11-point lead at 20-9 with 2:18 remaining in the first quarter. Despite struggling on the glass, Ball State battles back late in the frame, trimming the deficit to seven at 22-15 by the end of the period.
The Cardinals continued to push early in the second quarter, as a driving layup from freshman Barnes quickly cut the High Point lead to 22-17. However, the Panthers answered with a dominant surge, stretching their cushion to 14 points at 31-17 by the media timeout. Despite trailing by double digits for most of the second frame, Ball State refused to back down, executing well down the stretch to stay within striking distance and enter the locker room down 40-31 at halftime.
Though far from perfect, the Cardinals emerged from the locker room with renewed intensity, systematically chipping away at the deficit. Ball State created excellent opportunities under the basket, but early frustration mounted as high-percentage layups refused to fall.
The Cardinals had a prime opportunity to trim the margin to four, but a string of missed critical field goals and free throws allowed High Point to stretch its advantage back to double digits, 49-39, at the 4:26 mark.
Grace Kingery then halted the Panthers’ momentum, snapping the drought with a timely 3-pointer. Her spark allowed Ball State to regain its signature rhythm. Back-to-back layups from Barnes and Towers, paired with a sequence of empty possessions forced by the defense, narrowed High Point’s lead to just three at 54-51 with 14 seconds remaining. High Point capped the frame with a pair of free throws, setting the score at 56-51 heading into the final stanza.
Playing from behind proved a grueling obstacle for the Cardinals. Every time Ball State closed the distance, High Point answered to maintain control. Though the Cardinals kept fighting and narrowed the deficit to four in the final frame, the Panthers consistently countered their surges, ultimately draining the clock on any comeback hopes.
The Ball State women’s basketball team looks to bounce back on Thursday, Nov. 12, when they host No. 7 Louisville. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET inside Worthen Arena, with a national television broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

INDIANA STATE VOLLEYBALL
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State recorded 10 aces Saturday afternoon while limiting Murray State a .120 hitting percentage, as the Sycamores defeated the Racers in three sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-19) in their final home match of the 2026 season.
Kira Holland led the Sycamore attack with 11 kills, while Curry Kendall added 10. Hadley Hardersen dished out 23 assists and registered 10 digs, leading the Trees in both categories.
Kendall and Ella Scott tallied three aces apiece, while Corinne Knapp finished with a match-high four aces to go alongside eight kills. It marked the second straight match that the Trees tallied double-digit service aces.
Set 1 | Indiana State 25, Murray State 23
Indiana State took advantage of early Murray State errors to gain a two-point lead, while three aces from Knapp in a four-point span widened the Sycamores’ advantage to 11-7. Murray State rallied to cut the Sycamore lead down to a point, but three kills from Kendall down the stretch kept the Trees in front. Kills from Knapp and Scott, along with a block assist from Kendall and Scott, maintained the Sycamore lead, with a Racer service error clinching a 25-23 opening set win for the Trees.

Five kills between Holland and Kendall within the first 10 points of the second set had the Sycamores up 7-3, while kills from Scott and Knapp maintained the Sycamores’ significant lead. Aces from Knapp and Scott along with kills from Holland, Kendall and Lily Mueller had the Sycamores ahead 23-14, but Murray State conjured up a late run. The Racers went on a five-point run to pull within four, but Holland slammed the door shut with a kill as the Sycamores claimed a 25-20 win in set two.
Set 3 | Indiana State 25, Murray State 19
Murray State jumped out to an early third set lead, looking to extend the match, with the Racers building a five-point advantage midway through the set. Kills from Kendall and Mueller, along with an ace from Scott, pulled the Trees back within a point midway through, and consecutive aces from Kendall put Indiana State ahead 19-18. Two late kills from Knapp put Indiana State on the brink of victory, and Taylor Knuth finished off the sweep with a kill in her final home match to give the Trees a 25-19 win in the third set.

INDIANA STATE WOMEN’S SOCCER
TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State returns home on Sunday afternoon as the Sycamores host Murray State in the quarterfinal round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium as fourth-seeded Indiana State welcomes fifth-seeded Murray State in a rematch of a regular-season meeting that ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Sycamores enter the tournament with momentum after one of their most impressive performances of the season, a 2-0 victory over then-conference leader SIU on Thursday afternoon. Facing a Saluki team that entered the match atop the MVC standings, Indiana State delivered a complete effort on both ends of the field to secure its first victory over a conference leader this season and lock up the No. 4 seed in the tournament.
Indiana State broke through in the 33rd minute when Dasha Tuckova found the back of the net off assists from Tori Angelo and Peyton Wetzel. The Sycamores doubled the lead just six minutes later as CharlieBleu Saunders scored to give ISU a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime. From there, Indiana State’s defense remained disciplined and organized, preserving the shutout against one of the conference’s most dangerous attacking teams. The victory not only secured three valuable points but also helped the Sycamores finish the regular season fourth in the MVC standings with 13 points, while SIU fell to second with 21.
The result continued a strong run of form for Indiana State as the Sycamores enter the tournament playing some of their best soccer of the year. Throughout conference play, ISU has demonstrated its ability to compete with the MVC’s top programs, earning results against Illinois State, Drake, Murray State, and SIU. The combination of timely scoring, disciplined defending, and strong goalkeeping from Sofie Hansen has helped establish Indiana State as one of the conference’s most balanced teams heading into tournament play.
Murray State enters Sunday’s quarterfinal as the No. 5 seed after finishing the regular season with a 4-8-6 overall record and a 3-2-4 mark in MVC play. The Racers closed the regular season with a 2-2 draw against Belmont and finished with the same points as Indiana State in the conference standings. Murray State has proven to be a difficult opponent throughout league play, earning results through a strong defensive structure and the ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities in key moments.
Sunday’s matchup marks the second meeting between the two programs this season. In their regular-season contest in Murray, Meagyn Riffle gave Indiana State a first-half lead before the Racers found an equalizer in the second half, resulting in a 1-1 draw. With a spot in the MVC Tournament semifinals on the line, both teams will be looking to turn a tightly contested regular-season matchup into a postseason victory.
For Indiana State, Sunday’s quarterfinal represents an opportunity to continue the momentum built over the final weeks of the regular season. Backed by a home crowd and coming off a statement win against one of the MVC’s top teams, the Sycamores will look to carry their confidence, defensive discipline, and attacking depth into postseason play as they begin their quest for an MVC Tournament championship.
Live stats for Sunday’s match will be available on GoSycamores.com, and the match will stream live on ESPN+ for fans unable to attend.

SIU closed out the scoring in the contest on Weston Schofield’s 23-yard field goal with 1:55 remaining in the game to provide the final 37-20 scoring margin.
News & Notes
Zechariah Prince’s 99-yard touchdown run marked the longest rushing touchdown by an Indiana State player in school history.
Prince’s fourth quarter rushing touchdown was the first 90-plus yard rushing touchdown by a Sycamore since Ryan Roberts scored on a 91-yard carry against Western Illinois back on October 24, 2009.
Prince’s 99-yard carry surpasses the previous longest run by a Sycamore set by Bob Wilbur against Franklin back on September 17, 1955, as Wilbur went for a 93-yard carry in the contest.
Zechariah Prince finished the game with six carries for 119 yards and a touchdown marking his first collegiate 100-yard rushing and Indiana State’s third overall in the 2026 season.
With quarterback Elijah Owens unable to play on Saturday due to injury and Brady Allen suffering an injury on the opening drive, true freshman quarterback John Bargen made his Indiana State debut in the first quarter against the Salukis.
Bargen’s appearance marked the first game played by a true freshman quarterback since Elijah Owens started back on September 16, 2023, against Ball State.
Brady Allen, John Bargen, and Brock Riddle all completed passes in Saturday’s game against Southern Illinois, marking the first time three different Sycamores completed a pass in the same game since November 23, 2024, when Elijah Owens, Rashad Rochelle, and Harry Traum all completed a pass against Northern Iowa.
Saturday’s contest marked the first time Indiana State has had three quarterbacks see time on the field in the same game since November 5, 2022, against North Dakota, when the Sycamores had Gavin Screws, Evan Olaes, and Cade Chambers all receive snaps in the game against the Fighting Hawks.
Xavier McIntyre recorded his first double-digit tackling game at Indiana State finishing with 15 tackles on the day.
Alex Rose added 13 tackles for his third career double-digit tackling game and first of the 2026 season. He added a TFL and a pass breakup.
Spencer Conrad added eight punts and averaged 48.4 yards per attempt in the contest, posting three punts of 50-plus yards overall.
Sebastian Lopez connected on field goals nine and 10 overall on the 2026 season as the redshirt junior kicker converted from 34 and 41 yards overall.

PURDUE FT. WAYNE VOLLEYBALL
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne women’s volleyball team was treated to its largest margin of victory in a league match in over three years on Saturday (Nov. 7), as the Mastodons swept league newcomer Northern Illinois 25-18, 25-16, 25-14.
The Mastodons’ 27-point margin was the largest in a league matchup since the Mastodons had a 29-point margin against RMU in 2023. That was Becky Barrett and Kennedy McCants’ freshman season.
Purdue Fort Wayne’s offense was too much for NIU. The ‘Dons hit a red-hot .376, with four Mastodons hitting .300 or better: Mya Plemons (6 kills, .750), Riley Rosneck (14 kills, .500), Bella DiBuono (7 kills, .417) and Trinity Rye (14 kills, .323). Haiden Means distributed well, dishing out 36 assists.
While the Mastodon offense rolled, NIU struggled to do the same. The Huskies hit just .105, including a paltry -.074 in the third set. The Mastodons had six blocks, with five coming in the third set, and 44 digs. NIU also could not handle the Mastodons’ service pressure, finishing with 10 reception errors. Rye (3), Ava Tester (2), Means (2), Miona Dimitric (2) and Barrett (1) punished NIU’s serve receive throughout the match.
The Mastodons never trailed in set one, pulling away for good with an 8-2 run after leading 17-16. Rye had three kills in that run. The second set was the only one of the afternoon in which NIU ever led, but the Huskies did not after the 13-12 mark. The ‘Dons blew the set open with a 13-3 run in which Rosneck had three of her match-high 14 kills.
The third set was more of the same. The ‘Dons led 13-12 before tearing off a 12-2 run to ice the match. That run featured no kills from NIU and eight from the Mastodons. Rosneck had seven kills in the third to send NIU back to the bus.
Purdue Fort Wayne improved to 14-13, 8-6 in Horizon League play, while NIU fell to 8-16, 2-12 in the HL. The Mastodons enter the final week of the season with a chance to rise as high as No. 3 in the standings. The ‘Dons will host Oakland on Friday (Nov. 13) before a trip to Wright State on Saturday (Nov. 14).

EVANSVILLE MEN’S SOCCER
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Six members of the University of Evansville men’s soccer team earned Missouri Valley Conference All-Conference honors, highlighted by three Aces receiving major individual awards, the league office announced Saturday morning.
Pablo Calvete was named MVC Player of the Year, Devin Shepherd earned Forward of the Year honors, and Etienne Ravelli was selected as Defender of the Year. All three were also named to the MVC First Team All-Conference squad. Will Bencic, Alejandro Fernandez, and Izán Redondo rounded out Evansville’s selections with Second Team All-Conference honors.
Calvete claimed the MVC’s highest individual honor, becoming the first Ace to earn conference Player of the Year recognition since 1991, when Graham Merryweather received the award, and the first to do so as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. He joins Evansville greats Mick Lyon, Rob Paterson, David Weir, and Merryweather as the only players in program history to earn conference Player of the Year honors. Serving as a captain for the Aces in 2026, Calvete started 15 matches and logged 1,194 minutes while scoring three goals to help lead Evansville to a share of the MVC regular-season title. Among his three goals, perhaps none was more significant than his game-winner in the Aces’ 1-0 road victory over Western Michigan, which moved Evansville to 2-0 in conference play.
After earning a spot on the MVC All-Freshman Team in 2025, Shepherd established himself as one of the conference’s top offensive threats, earning MVC Forward of the Year honors. Shepherd was a consistent force in the Evansville attack, recording four goals and four assists for 12 points on the season. He started all 17 matches for the Aces, logging 1,329 minutes. Shepherd finished the regular season particularly strong, recording at least one point in four of Evansville’s final five matches, including a three-point performance in the Aces’ 3-0 victory over Bradley on Oct. 30.
In his first season with the Aces, Ravelli made an immediate impact, earning MVC Defender of the Year honors. The selection marks the second consecutive season an Evansville player has received the top MVC defensive award, following Martin Wurschmidt’s recognition in 2025, and the fourth time in program history an Ace has earned the distinction. Ravelli appeared in 16 matches, making 15 starts and logging 1,360 minutes. He also contributed two goals on the season, including a spectacular bicycle kick against Lindenwood in September that earned the No. 6 spot on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.
Bencic earned his first career postseason honor with a Second Team All-Conference selection after serving as a key contributor during his four-year career with the Aces. One of three Aces to start all 17 matches this season, Bencic logged 1,153 minutes and played an important role in helping Evansville secure a share of the MVC regular-season title for the second consecutive year.
Fernandez earned Second Team All-Conference recognition after leading the Aces with five goals this season. He appeared in 15 matches, making 14 starts, and recorded two game-winning goals. His most recent game-winner came in the 84th minute against Belmont, giving Evansville a 2-1 lead and helping secure a share of the regular-season title.
Redondo earned Second Team All-Conference honors in his first season with Evansville after appearing in 17 matches and making 16 starts, totaling 1,228 minutes. He recorded five points on the season, including four in MVC play, scoring a goal in the Aces’ 3-1 victory over UIC and adding two assists in the team’s 3-0 win over Bradley.
The Aces open MVC Tournament play Wednesday, hosting the winner of the Western Michigan-Drake matchup in the conference semifinal at Arad McCutchan Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.

The Valparaiso University football team controlled the lead and controlled a very viable path to a share of the Pioneer Football League championship with three and a half minutes remaining in Saturday’s battle with PFL co-leader Dayton, but the Flyers scored two touchdowns in the final 3:18 to beat the Beacons 31-20 at Welcome Stadium in Dayton, Ohio. Nic Lendino (Naperville, Ill. / Neuqua Valley) made two interceptions including a spectacular one-handed grab.
How It Happened
Dayton received the opening kickoff and embarked on a long 18-play, 52-yard drive that took 9:05 and resulted in a 31-yard field goal by David Mauer. The Flyers converted on third-and-7, fourth-and-2, third-and-7 and fourth-and-3 on that drive. They were eventually set back by a penalty that nullified a touchdown and settled for three points.
Valpo targeted Daniel White (Country Club Hills, Ill. / Brother Rice [Carroll]) five times on its opening drive and he made three catches, helping the Beacons move the ball inside the Dayton 40. However, the Flyers recovered a strip sack and took over on the Valpo 44.
On the first play of Dayton’s possession, the Valpo defense came up with an immediate takeaway of its own, as Garret Risley (Sacramento, Calif. / Jesuit [Northeastern State]) pressured the quarterback before Jason Salman (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) made an interception at the Valpo 13. Dayton led 3-0 at the end of a lightning-fast first quarter.
After Dayton’s defense forced a punt early in the second, the Flyers found the end zone on a 27-yard pass, extending the lead to 10-0 with 9:10 remaining until halftime. On the ensuing drive, Micah Mackay (Zionsville, Ind. / Lutheran) made a 29-yard catch, and Valpo eventually moved the ball into field-goal range. Kicker Luke Scoma (Bellevue, Wash. / Bellevue) hit a 44 yarder to get the Beacons on the board at 10-3.
Dayton converted two more third downs on its next drive, sandwiched around a big play on a 51-yard reception by Ethan Thulin. Eventually, the Flyers scored on a 5-yard TD catch that lifted the lead to 17-3 with 2:12 left in the half. Valpo punted, and the Beacons appeared to be in a bind, trailing 17-3 and Dayton had the ball in Valpo territory in the final minute of the half.
The complexion of the first half changed with 15 seconds remaining, when Lendino made an impressive play to make an interception, then returned it 68 yards for a pick six to make it 17-10.
The second half began with a special-teams jolt from Kaiser Wilhelm (Mason, Ohio / William Mason), who returned the kickoff 58 yards to the Dayton 29. That set up an eventual 22-yard field goal by Scoma that whittled the lead to four at 17-13.
The Valpo defense got off the field in a hurry, forcing a quick three-and-out. Micah Markley (West Chester, Ohio / Lakota West) and Alex Goworowski (Chicago, Ill. / Saint Patrick) combined to stop the ball carrier a yard shy of the first down on third-and-8 from the UD 12.
The Beacons found paydirt on the next possession as Rowan Keefe (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) connected with Colin Hayes (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington Central Catholic) for a 5-yard touchdown on third-and-goal, vaulting Valpo ahead 20-17 with 2:37 left in the third.
Lendino made his second interception of the day, a diving, one-handed pick at the Valpo 7-yard line, giving Valpo the lead and the ball with 14:13 remaining. Keefe moved the chains with a 14-yard keeper on third-and-11, but that drive ultimately ended with a punt.
Dayton converted a fourth-and-1 and a third-and-2 on its next drive, before Michael Mussari hauled in a 6-yard TD pass on third-and goal to put Dayton up 24-20 with just 3:08 to play. That drive used 12 plays and 7:11 to cover 40 yards.
Dayton followed with an interception that all but sealed the deal, then tacked on another late score to account for the final margin.
Inside the Game
Lendino had his second multi-interception game of the season, as he also grabbed two picks on Oct. 10 vs. Drake.
Lendino lifted his season total to a team-high five interceptions and his career total to nine. He is tied for second nationally in FCS in interceptions this season.
Lendino became one of 25 players nationally in FCS with an interception return of 68 yards or more this season. He notched Valpo’s first pick six since Kohlton Sherman set a program record with a 95 yarder on Nov. 12, 2022 at Marist.
Salman’s interception was his third of the season, as he previously recorded picks against Lawrence Tech and Morehead State.
Scoma went 2-for-2 on field goals and 2-for-2 on PATs in the game. He has 10 made field goals on the season, one shy of entering the program’s top five for makes in a single year.
Redshirt junior linebacker Max Samuel (Edina, Minn. / Edina) had one tackle for loss as he was credited with a ½ TFL on two separate plays. This boosted his season total to 18, three shy of Valpo’s program record and currently third in program history.
Valpo had five tackles for loss, lifting the team’s season total to 62. Markley and Wilhelm had 1.5 TFL each.
Redshirt sophomore Anthony Feltrinelli (Westfield, Ind. / Westfield) notched a team-high nine tackles, followed by Lendino and Connor Cervantes (Griffith, Ind. / Griffith) with eight apiece. Salman and Wilhelm each added seven stops.
Dayton held a 393-224 edge in total offense including a 102-45 advantage on the ground. The Flyers were 9-of-14 on third down and 3-of-3 on fourth down.
Redshirt senior Chris Gundy (Smithfield, Va. / Smithfield), O’Keeffe and White had three grabs a piece on a day where Keefe’s 17 completions went to eight different receivers.
