DERRICK HENRY’S RUSHES FOR 3 TDS AND LAMAR JACKSON LIGHTS UP THE COLTS IN THE RAVENS’ 41-23 WIN
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Derrick Henry still looks ageless, and Lamar Jackson put on an MVP-like show again.
Together, the Baltimore Ravens’ offensive stars delivered a knockout punch.
The 32-year-old Henry rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns as he moved into third place on the NFL’s career list, and Jackson rebounded from a frustrating 2025 season by throwing for 324 yards, with touchdowns passing and rushing, as Baltimore opened the season with a 41-23 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in coach Jesse Minter’s debut.
“Oh, King Henry, I love you,” Jackson said as he jumped off the podium and hugged his teammate following his postgame news conference.
That sentiment was unanimous inside the Ravens’ locker room.
Henry opened his 12th season with yet another big day against Indy, a team he tormented during his time with the Tennessee Titans. He had 24 carries and finished with his 56th 100-yard game and his eighth game with three or more TD runs. Henry also passed two Hall of Famers, Marcus Allen and former Indy star Marvin Harrison, on the career touchdown list.
His 125 rushing TDs are two more than Allen, and Henry’s 130 total TDs rank ninth, one ahead of Harrison.
Jackson, meanwhile, showed his subpar 2025 season could be an anomaly.
He was 17 of 25 passing, had seven carries for 40 yards and showed his elusiveness by escaping a sack near midfield and scrambling for a tone-setting first down on third-and-16 in the first quarter. Baltimore scored its second touchdown three plays later.
“We were all on point, from the play-calling to the execution,” Jackson said. “I’ve been dialed in since OTA (offseason team activities). We all have to stay locked in like this. I’ve got a ton of confidence in these guys that they can do that.”
The Ravens outgained the Colts 506 yards to 251 and improved to 13-6 in openers since 2008 while topping the 20-point mark in a league-best 10th consecutive Week 1.
Jackson’s 10th 300-yard game started with a 229-yard first half as he connected with Zay Flowers five times for 150 yards and a 54-yard catch-and-run. Flowers did not play in the second half because of a hamstring injury.
Indy lost its 11th opener in 13 years. Daniel Jones was 19 of 31 for 166 yards with a TD and an interception in his first game since tearing his right Achilles tendon in December. Jonathan Taylor ran 19 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns but also lost a fumble that led to a Baltimore score.
“Obviously, we’ve got to be better,” coach Shane Steichen said after hearing boos from the Lucas Oil Stadium crowd. “We’ve got to coach better. We’ve got to play better. They had a ton of yards. We’ve got to be better there, but it’s not just about one group. We weren’t good enough.”
The Ravens started fast. After Taylor opened the game with a 1-yard TD run, Baltimore answered with Jackson’s 5-yard scoring run, Henry’s 4-yard TD run, Flowers’ TD reception and Henry’s 32-yard run to make it 28-6.
Indy could never catch up. Taylor answered with a 3-yard TD run late in the first half. The Ravens closed out the half with Tyler Loop’s 57-yard field goal to make it 31-13 — the fifth time in franchise history they scored at least 31 points in the first half.
Spencer Shrader made a 58-yard field goal in the third quarter to get Indy within 31-16. But Henry’s 3-yard scoring run with 12:46 left sealed it.
Another milestone
Defensive tackle Calais Campbell had a big day in his first game back with Baltimore. The 40-year-old joined Jim Marshall and Hall of Famer Bruce Smith as the only defensive linemen in league history to make 260 career starts. Marshall finished with 272, and Smith had 267.
Campbell’s 19-year NFL journey began in Arizona and has taken him to Jacksonville, Baltimore from 2020-22, Miami, back to Arizona in 2025 and now back to the Ravens.
Injuries
Ravens: Flowers was ruled out during the third quarter, and it wasn’t the only big hit to the receiving corps. Ja’Kobi Lane injured a wrist and did not return. CB Marlon Humphrey left briefly in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a right leg injury. CB T.J. Tampa Jr. did not return after hurting his knee in the first quarter.
Colts: Indy appeared to avoid any significant injuries.
