The Indiana High School football season kicks off August 22. Today we take a look at which Central Indiana QB is under the microscope before the season starts.
We start with New Palestine senior Jacob Davis. The Dragons will look to repeat as state champs, this time at the 5A level. Davis stepped in last season after transferring from Ohio and threw for almost 2,000 yards and completed 68% of his passes. By the way, Davis threw for 23 TD’s and had just one interception.
Brownsburg is the 6A state champions thanks in a big part to the play of Oscar Frye. Frye has been busy this summer showcasing his talents to college scouts all over the country. In 2024 Frye threw for 2,445 yards and added 23 TD’S. We believe Frye is the best pure passer in the state of Indiana and has plenty of weapons to throw to in 2025.
The University of Toledo is getting a very good QB in Bo Polston. The Hawks won the 5A state title in 2024, and now makes the move to 6A. Polston completed 64% of his passes to go with 2,069 yards and 21 TD’S.
Former Colts QB Jim Sorgi saw his son receive an offer from Louisville, and for Jack Sorgi that means he can now focus on football and not recruiting. The best news for Sorgi is he is only a junior. Last season he threw for 1,729 yards and 19TD’S.
We are anxious to see how Fishers senior Gage Sturgill comes back from that injury against Brownsburg in week five. Before the injury Sturgill threw for 1,156 yards and 13TD’s.
Former Lawrence Central signal caller Terry Walker will play at Hamilton Southeastern. Last year at LC Walker threw for 1,467 yards and added 17 TD’s. Walker is a dual threat player after rushing for 503 yards last season.
Center Grove fans are looking forward to the development of sophomore Oscar Sloan. As a freshman. Sloan threw for over 3,000 yards and added 25TD’S. He is receiving several division one offers already.
Another young QB to watch will be Danville’s Carter Ward. Ward had an excellent season in 2024 by throwing for 1,063 yards and 16TD’S.
Heritage Christian will count heavily on Eli Nix. The Eagles’ signal caller threw for 1,725 yards and added 22TD’S. Nix can also run the football with 805 yards in 2024.
Cascade senior Brady Trebley is expecting a big season in 2025 after throwing for over 1,200 yards and 20TD’S. Trebley is another dual threat QB after rushing for nearly 400 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Warren Central is loaded with talent and QB Anthony Dennison is the leading candidate to lead the Warriors. He played in only eight games in 2024 and was very productive with 754 passing yards and seven touchdowns.
Indian Creek sophomore Evan Clark has a great freshman season. He threw for almost 1,500 yards and 20 TD’S in 2024.
Park Tudor sophomore Chris Harris stepped in as a freshman and performed well. He completed 63% of his passes for over 1,100 yards and 18TD’S. Harris can run the football as well by posting 425 rushing yards.
Mason Meyer of Mt. Vernon led the way in 2024 with over 1,100 yards and nine touchdowns. Another dual threat QB in the mix after adding 423 rushing yards.
Colin Ash will be THE MAN for the Royals of Roncalli. After splitting time at QB in 2024, Ash will look to surpass his 700 passing yards, and 649 rushing yards this season.
Former Speedway QB Connor Moreland will play this season at Franklin Central. Moreland passed for over 1,600 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Sparkplugs. We will watch closely to see how he plays in a new system.
Beech Grove’s Bishop Moore was solid as a freshman by passing for 1,159 yards and 11 TD’S. Production from the offensive line will be a key.
All-State QB Devin Craig of Lapel was a stat stuffer in 2024. He completed 66% of his passes, had 3,231 passing yards, and added 30 TD’S. Craig may reach 10,000 career passing yards this season.
It took only one season for Cathedral QB Cameron Koers to make his mark. Koers completed 61% of his passes for 1,528 yards and 11 TD’S. Moving back to 5A will help the Fighting Irish, plus he will have a solid running game around him.
Bishop Chatard’s Jack Harrington is perhaps the most underrated QB on this watch list. Harrington threw for almost 2,000 yards to go along with 14TD’S and a passing percentage at 65%. Harrington can run the football, but his game is throwing the football.
Connor Cruz completed 56% of his passes at Mooresville after transferring from Covenant Christian. Cruz added 2,483 yards with 25TD’S. His one area of concern is the 15 INT’S.
Greenwood Christian will look to Trey Dobson to continue his dual threat play in 2025. Last season Dobson threw for 1,918 yards and 21TD’S. On the ground he ran for 1,029 yards and 15 scores.
Carmel QB Anthony Coellner will have a new head coach in Kevin Wright. This should be a huge plus for the much improved signal caller after he threw for nearly 1,900 yards and 17TD’S last year.
Lawrence Central senior Santana Allen transferred this season from Ritter and that is a huge jump from 2A to 6A football. Last season at Ritter, Allen threw for nearly 1,700 yards, while rushing for 350 yards.
Plainfield junior Bryce Sebanc had an excellent sophomore season at QB. Last season, Sebanc passed for just under 600 yards with 5TD’S.
Avon QB Jace Cameron played in only four regular season games in 2024 because of injury. During that brief period of playing time he threw for almost 600 yards. He did play in the tournament against HSE and threw for over 300 yards.
Eastern Hancock’s Elijah Edon has been the picture of consistency for three seasons. Now Edon will look to take Eastern Hancock to another level. In 2024, Edon passed for over 2,000 yards with 19TD’S. Edon added 396 yards on the ground.
