COLLEGE FOOTBALL
TOP 25 ROUNDUP: USC STIFLES NO. 2 OHIO STATE FOR STATEMENT WIN
Jayden Maiava passed for 222 yards and a touchdown, and Trent Mosley had 145 all-purpose yards and a receiving touchdown as Southern California defeated No. 2 Ohio State 30-18 in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Ohio State freshman quarterback Luke Fahey made his first start in place of Julian Sayin, who was injured in the previous game against Indiana. The Buckeyes (6-2, 4-1 Big Ten) were hoping to ease Fahey into the game, but the Trojans (7-2, 4-2) had other ideas.
Mosley took a short pass and raced untouched for a 69-yard touchdown 39 seconds into the game as Southern California led wire-to-wire, taking a 20-9 halftime lead. The Buckeyes had to settle for field goals of 39, 34 and 23 yards by Connor Hawkins, the latter coming after Ohio State had a first-and-goal from the 1-yard line.
Maiava completed 15 of 22 passes. Mosley made five catches for 101 yards in addition to his punt return. Fahey was 21 of 38 for 260 yards and a touchdown, with Jeremiah Smith making 10 catches for 83 yards and a score.
No. 1 Miami 38, North Carolina 35
Darian Mensah threw for three touchdowns, and the top-ranked Hurricanes scored twice in the final eight minutes to pull out a victory over the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Mark Fletcher Jr. scored three touchdowns, and Malachi Toney had two scoring receptions, including a 9-yarder, which was set up by Marquise Lightfoot’s strip-sack, with 2:33 remaining that gave the Hurricanes (8-0, 6-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) their first double-digit lead.
Billy Edwards Jr. threw two of his four touchdown passes to Jelani Thurman in the first half for the Tar Heels (4-4, 2-3). Edwards completed 28 of 34 passes for 341 yards, including a 15-yard scoring strike to Trech Kekahuna with 1:38 left. Miami ran out the clock after the score. North Carolina recovered a pair of onside kicks following the touchdown, but committed a penalty on each play.
No. 3 Georgia 27, No. 17 Florida 8
Nate Frazier and Bo Walker each scored a rushing touchdown to help the Bulldogs cruise to a victory over the Gators in Atlanta.
Gunner Stockton threw for just 101 yards, but Georgia (7-1, 5-1 Southeastern Conference) forced four turnovers in its sixth straight win over Florida. Georgia outrushed Florida 217-48. Frazier and Dwight Phillips Jr. each rushed for 67 yards.
Aaron Philo started at quarterback for Florida (5-3, 3-3) and threw two interceptions before being replaced by Tramell Jones Jr., who completed 17 of 24 passes for 172 yards. Jones also threw an interception and lost a fumble for the Gators, who dropped their third game in four tries after a 4-0 start.
No. 4 Indiana 23, Minnesota 16, OT
Grant Wilson threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Becker on the first play of overtime, and the Hoosiers escaped with a 23-16 win in Bloomington, Ind. Wilson, who replaced an ineffective Josh Hoover to start the second half, completed 9 of 17 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown for Indiana (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten).
Drake Lindsey completed 20 of 37 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown for Minnesota (5-3, 3-2). Roman Voss hauled in the Golden Gophers’ lone touchdown. Becker made the winning play on a perfect pass from Wilson. He caught an arching spiral along the right side of the end zone for the go-ahead score.
The Golden Gophers fell short on their overtime drive as Lindsey was sacked on the final two plays after reaching the Indiana 3-yard line. The teams traded 60-yard field goals in a stunning final 19 seconds of regulation.
No. 5 Notre Dame 35, Navy 13
Nolan James Jr. rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns as the slow-starting Fighting Irish dominated the second half to earn a win over the Midshipmen in Foxborough, Mass.
C.J. Carr completed 19 of 29 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns as Notre Dame (7-1) reeled off the game’s last 28 points. Jonaz Walton added 51 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Quarterback Jackson Gutierrez rushed 28 times for 110 yards and a touchdown for Navy (2-6), which has dropped six of seven for the first time since 2021. The Midshipmen held the ball for 23:33 of the first half, but just 9:07 after halftime.
No. 6 Utah 49, Cincinnati 25
The Utes returned a fumble and an interception for first-half touchdowns en route to a 36-point halftime lead and their eighth straight victory, a blowout of the host Bearcats.
Hunter Andrews had two touchdown catches and 112 yards on five receptions, while Daniel Bray caught a touchdown pass and ran for another score for Utah (8-0, 5-0 Big 12), which set the stage for next week’s showdown with No. 8 BYU in Salt Lake City.
Utah quarterback Devon Dampier completed 22 of 29 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Wayshawn Parker rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Cole Tabb finished with 131 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries for Cincinnati (5-3, 2-3).
No. 7 UCLA 27, Nevada 0
The Bruins matched the program’s best start since 2005, using a stifling defensive effort to rout the visiting Wolf Pack in Pasadena, California.
The Bruins (8-0) held the Wolf Pack to just 176 total yards of offense and intercepted Wolf Pack quarterback Luke Duncan on each of Nevada’s first three drives — the last of which resulted in a Derrick Barksdale pick-six. Ty Dieffenbach, making his third start in place of the injured Nico Iamaleava, finished 16-of-30 passing for 178 yards. Wayne Knight was held without a rushing TD for the first time this season but caught a 12-yard score from Dieffenbach.
The Wolf Pack (3-5) crossed into UCLA territory on just two of their first seven possessions and threatened to score only once in those opportunities. AJ Bianco replaced Duncan, avoiding more interceptions but completing just 6 of 13 passes for 71 yards.
No. 8 BYU 27, Arizona State 20
Bear Bachmeier threw for 236 yards and a touchdown to lead the Cougars to a victory over the Sun Devils in Provo, Utah.
BYU (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) scored the first ten points of the fourth quarter after Arizona State scored 14 straight points in the third to tie the game at 17. Sione Moa ran for two touchdowns and Legend Glasker had a game-high 87 receiving yards for the Cougars.
Cardae Mack had 170 all-purpose yards, including 123 on the ground, to lead Arizona State. Jake Fette threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Sun Devils (4-4, 2-3) kicker Carson Smith converted a 44-yard field goal with 57 seconds left, but his onside kick was recovered by BYU to clinch the result.
No. 11 Texas 31, Mississippi State 3
Arch Manning passed for 220 yards and three touchdowns and 333-pound defensive tackle Maraad Watson scored on a 61-yard fumble return as the Longhorns dismantled the short-handed Bulldogs in Austin, Texas.
Manning was 16-of-20 passing and finalized the win with a 42-yard TD pass to Emmett Mosley V with 7:56 to play. Texas was not great on offense, amassing just 280 yards, but timely explosive plays combined with a dynamite defensive effort which allowed just 187 yards to keep the Longhorns firmly in College Football Playoff contention.
Mississippi State’s AJ Swann passed for 97 yards before being forced from the game with an injury late in the first half. His backup Parker Puckett managed just 22 yards through the air. The Bulldogs (4-4, 2-4) also lost star running back Fluff Bothwell to a leg injury in the third quarter and dropped their fourth straight game.
No. 12 Ole Miss 45, Auburn 15
Trinidad Chambliss accounted for three second-half touchdowns as the Rebels pulled away from the Tigers in SEC action in Oxford, Miss.
Chambliss completed 22 of 34 for 263 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 65 yards and another score as Ole Miss (6-2, 4-2) blew it open after leading 14-9 at halftime. Shekai Mills-Knight rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown while Horatio Fields caught six passes for 73 yards and a score.
Byrum Brown hit 25 of 38 passing for 195 yards and a touchdown for Auburn (4-4, 2-4), which rushed for just 63 yards. Christian Neptune had five receptions for 53 yards and Chas Nimrod had four receptions for 62 yards and a score.
No. 13 Texas Tech 34, No. 22 Arizona 26
Thomas Castellanos threw for two touchdowns and rushed for a third to rally the Red Raiders past the Wildcats in Big 12 action in Lubbock, Texas.
Castellanos hit 11 of 24 passes for 144 yards while rushing for 117 yards for Texas Tech (7-1, 4-1), which tied a school record with its 13th straight home win. J’Koby Williams rushed for 175 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown sprint to clinch the game with 2:05 to play.
Noah Fifita completed 33 of 45 passes for 417 yards and one touchdown for Arizona (6-2, 3-2), which had its four-game winning streak snapped. Isaiah Mizell caught seven passes for 182 yards, which included a 94-yard touchdown, while Kedrick Reescano rushed for two scores.
No. 14 Wake Forest 51, Virginia 7
The Demon Deacons extended their winning streak to five games with a rout of the Cavaliers in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Gio Lopez completed 13 of 21 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 64 yards. Ty Clark III set a career high with three rushing TDs and Carlos Hernandez had eight catches for 136 yards and a score. It’s the longest winning streak for Wake Forest (7-1, 5-1 ACC) since an 8-0 start in 2021. Lopez limped off the field with 2:29 left in the third quarter after taking a hit to his lower right leg. With the win already assured, he did not return.
Beau Pribula passed for 212 yards with a touchdown and an interception for Virginia (4-5, 2-4), which dropped its third straight game and now must win two of its last three contests to become bowl eligible. The Demon Deacons outgained the Cavaliers 538-330, including 309-16 on the ground.
Syracuse 30, No. 19 SMU 27
Steve Angeli found an open Noah Meyers in the left side of the end zone with 17 seconds left as the host Orange outlasted the Mustangs.
Playing in his second game back after missing three games, Angeli completed 21 of 34 passes for 200 yards to help Syracuse (4-4, 2-4 ACC) win its second straight dramatic finish after beating North Carolina in overtime last week. Angeli was 7 of 8 on the game-winning drive, including consecutive 15-yard passes to Calvin Russell III and Daunte Bacheyie that moved Syracuse to the 2-yard line.
After Ju’Juan Johnson rushed for no gain, Syracuse used a timeout before Angeli faked a handoff to Ahmad Miller. He rolled out and Meyers got a step on SMU (6-2, 4-2) linebacker Alexander Kilgore to easily haul in the pass for a 29-27 lead. After the extra point, the Orange clinched the win by forcing a fumble from SMU’s Randy Pittman Jr.
Oregon 34, No. 20 Northwestern 26
Dylan Raiola threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns as the Ducks rallied from a 14-point deficit to defeat the Wildcats in Eugene, Ore.

Sunday, 1 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Steelers -3.5, Total 39.5
Series Rewind: Cleveland has won the last two and four of the last six in the AFC North rivalry. However, the Browns haven’t won in Pittsburgh since 2003, losing their last 22 regular-season games there, and the Steelers comfortably lead the all-time series 83-66-1 (including 2-1 in the postseason).
One day after Halloween, the Cleveland Browns will enter their own version of a House of Horrors when they visit the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. They already have a win over Pittsburgh this season, though, 27-24 on a late Andre Szmyt field goal on Oct. 1 and have won five of their last six games to hold the tiebreaker atop the division. Deshaun Watson threw for a season-high 308 yards last week in a 27-24 win at the Titans, which also came on a game-winning kick from Szmyt, this one as time expired. That win improved Cleveland to 5-1 in one-score games this season, but Pittsburgh isn’t lagging far behind at 4-1 in one-score games. Aaron Rodgers, who threw for 299 yards, three touchdowns and two picks in the first Browns matchup, surpassed Peyton Manning with his 540th career touchdown pass (third all-time) in Pittsburgh’s 16-10 defeat of New Orleans last week in France. Rodgers has thrown 13 touchdowns this season along with five interceptions, already approaching the seven he had in his first season with the Steelers.
Atlanta Falcons (3-4) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Buccaneers -2.5, Total 44.5
Series Rewind: The all-time regular-season count between NFC South rivals stands at 33-32 in favor of the Falcons. Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles is 3-6 all-time against Atlanta.
Falcons running back Bijan Robinson was held largely in check by the Chicago Bears but has been a major headache in his career against the Bucs. He went for 175 total yards in the last meeting with Tampa in December 2025 and has more than 100 yards from scrimmage in three consecutive games vs. the Bucs. Tampa’s defense isn’t flawless, but newfound pressure off the edge was a big boost last week. Yaya Diaby had career-high 3.0 sacks last week in a 43-13 victory at Carolina, where Tampa found more balance. Quarterback Baker Mayfield has shaken off a thumb injury and running back Bucky Irving produced his first two-TD game in Week 7. Mayfield has 18 total touchdowns (17 passing) in seven career starts against the Falcons, with at least two TD passes in each of the past five meetings.
Tennessee Titans (1-6) at Cincinnati Bengals (4-2)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Bengals -12.5, Total 46.5
Series Rewind: The Bengals have won three of the past four meetings, most recently a 37-27 victory in 2024. Joe Burrow threw for 271 yards with three TD passes.
Joe Burrow leads NFL with a 71.7% completion rate, he’s second in passer rating (110.4), third in TD passes (15) and has the backing of a stubborn defense helping guide the team’s rebound from a disappointing 2025 finish. The Bengals’ defense is second in the league with 21 sacks. The Titans have spent most of this season in comeback mode, which puts quarterback Cam Ward under the gun all too often. Running back Tony Pollard had a huge effort with 129 yards rushing and three TD runs in a last-play loss to Cleveland in Week 7. Cincinnati’s running game might benefit from a surprise subtraction at the heart of the Tennessee defense. Jeffery Simmons, a havoc-wreaking interior pass rusher, was traded to the Bears midweek. He was the anchor on a Tennessee defense that is 26th in the NFL against the run (131.1 yards per game).
Indianapolis Colts (2-5) at Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Jaguars -9.5, Total 46.5
Series Rewind: Indianapolis leads the all-time series 28-22 but has lost five of the last six to the Jaguars and hasn’t won in Jacksonville since 2014.
The Colts, who have lost 11 straight games in Jacksonville, may be facing a Jaguars team that appears poised to run away with the AFC South at a bad time amidst Indianapolis’ current turmoil. A week after firing longtime general manager Chris Ballard, the Colts traded defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and guard Quenton Nelson this week, signaling a potential midseason fire sale. Leading receiver Josh Downs (team-high 307 yards this season) also reportedly requested a trade Wednesday, but Indianapolis coach Shane Steichen told reporters that star running back Jonathan Taylor hasn’t yet requested a trade. Indianapolis brings a three-game losing streak to Jacksonville, which is the only team in the division better than 2-5. The Jaguars are coming off a bye week refreshed after a 1-1 stint in London which included a win over the Eagles and a loss to the Texans, both on last-second field goals. Jacksonville has the look of a complete team, ranking third in the NFL in scoring defense (17.3 points allowed per game), tied for seventh in scoring offense (25.7 ppg) and tied for third in turnover margin (plus-5). Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 14 touchdowns, tied for fifth in the league, with four of the five ahead of him having played more games.
Arizona Cardinals (2-5) at Dallas Cowboys (3-4)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Cowboys -6.5, Total 54.5
Series Rewind: The Cardinals have won four straight meetings and eight of nine since 2008. In Week 9 last season in Arlington, Arizona had three takeaways in a 27-17 victory on “Monday Night Football.”
The Cardinals are 0-5 when they allow 17 or more points this season and the Cowboys are coming off a season-high 38-point performance in Monday’s win at Philadelphia. Look for both teams to air it out, as Arizona’s Jacoby Brissett led the NFL with 282 pass attempts entering Week 8 and Dallas’ Dak Prescott was tied for third with 273. The Cowboys also proved they could run the ball with 204 yards on the ground against the Eagles, with a career-high 155 from Javonte Williams. Arizona’s Trey McBride became just the second tight end under the age of 27 to reach 400 career catches, joining Dallas legend Jason Witten. CeeDee Lamb had two TD grabs against Philly and needs one more to tie Hall of Famer Drew Pearson (48) for seventh place in Cowboys history. Dallas is on a shorter week but Arizona looks like the more banged-up team, starting the week with 15 players either not practicing or doing so on a limited basis on Wednesday.
Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) at New York Jets (2-5)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Jets -1.5, Total 45.5
Series Rewind: These teams combined for 28 points when they last played in 2023, a 16-12 win for the Raiders. Las Vegas has been victorious in four of the past five meetings.
If you had a matchup of 2012 fourth-rounder Kirk Cousins (Raiders) and former Raiders starter Geno Smith, a second-rounder in 2013, on your bingo card, hats off to you. The old guard is front and under center on Sunday and there is pressure mounting to produce. The Jets lost to the previous winless Dolphins last week and head coach Aaron Glenn is now 5-19 in two seasons in New York, where grace and patience aren’t known to be virtues of pro sports fans. After a 3-0 start, the Raiders are in a nosedive with four consecutive losses under first-year coach Klint Kubiak. Of course, Kubiak is likely to have more runway to get the Raiders pointed in the right direction. That’s not necessarily the case for Cousins, but the plotline of No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza debuting on Broadway was put to bed for now by the franchise this week. It’s difficult to place the losses on Cousins. He is tied for the league lead in TD passes (16) and is fourth in passing yards (1,877). Red-zone issues and continued indecisiveness from running back Ashton Jeanty are among the challenges facing the Raiders. The Jets can hardly pin their poor showings on Smith, either. He’s completed 70% of his passes for 1,623 yards with 10 TDs and two INTs. The lack of a ground game without Breece Hall has been a hindrance.
Minnesota Vikings (6-0) at Detroit Lions (4-2)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Lions -3.5, Total 46.5
Series Rewind: Last season, the Vikings swept the NFC North-rival Lions for the first time since the 2020 season. They won 27-24 in Detroit in Week 9 and 23-10 in Minneapolis on Christmas Day in Week 17.
The NFL’s last unbeaten team, the Vikings can improve to 7-0 for the fifth time in franchise history (1973, 1975, 1998 and 2000). It’s a matchup of Detroit’s No. 2 scoring offense (30.7 points per game) and Minnesota’s No. 1 scoring defense (12.3 per game). Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson enters his 100th game with 8,782 yards, trailing only Julio Jones (9,618) and Hall of Famer Lance Alworth (9,019) in NFL history to that point in a career. With 1,788 yards, Lions star Jared Goff could become only the fourth QB to reach 2,000 yards before throwing his first interception: Patrick Mahomes (2019), Alex Smith (2017), Bernie Kosar (1991). With 593 catches in 89 games, Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown is set to become the fastest to 600 catches in league history. Cooper Kupp, Keenan Allen and Antonio Brown are tied at 96 games. The Vikings rank No. 1 in the NFL in turnover margin (plus-seven) and the Lions have turned the ball over only three times this season.
Baltimore Ravens (4-3) at Buffalo Bills (5-1)
Sunday, 1 p.m. ET
FanDuel: Bills -3. Total: 54.5
Series Rewind: Buffalo has won four of the past five meetings with two of those coming in the postseason. One was the 27-25 victory in the divisional round on Jan. 19, 2025, a game best remembered for Baltimore’s Mark Andrews dropping a two-point conversion throw with 1:33 left. The Bills also scored a 17-3 win in a divisional-round matchup on Jan. 16, 2021 when Taron Johnson intercepted Lamar Jackson and took it 101 yards for a touchdown.
Jackson could return to the field after missing the past three games with a left ankle injury. If Baltimore has the two-time MVP, it could be another wild contest like the 2025 season opener between the teams when the Bills scored 16 unanswered points in the final 3:56 for a 41-40 victory. Bills quarterback Josh Allen, the 2024 MVP, passed for 394 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for two scores. Jackson passed for 209 yards and two touchdowns and added 70 yards and one score on the ground. This season, Baltimore averaged 29 points during Jackson’s four starts and that number dipped to 17.7 during three starts with backup Tyler “Snoop” Huntley. The Ravens are 1-2 under Huntley, didn’t score a single second-half point over the past two games and gave up five second-half touchdowns during a 35-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last week. Baltimore star running back Derrick Henry (sixth in NFL with 579 rushing yards) pointed the finger at himself after rushing for just 45 yards on 17 carries against Cincinnati. He said he needs to pick up his leadership. Allen always earns high marks for leadership and he’ll look to keep the Bills churning after a bye week. Buffalo has topped 30 points four times and leads the NFL in scoring offense (32.8 points per game) and stands fourth in total offense (387.7 yards per game). Interestingly, Allen has thrown just nine touchdown passes this season and is tied for the NFL lead with eight rushing scores. James Cook III ranks third in rushing (627 yards) but leads all running backs with four fumbles.
Los Angeles Chargers (0-6) at Los Angeles Rams (3-4)
Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Rams -6.5, Total 45.5
Series Rewind: The Rams lead the all-time series 7-6. This will be just the second time they have faced off since both teams moved into SoFi Stadium (the Chargers won 31-10 in 2023) and the third matchup since both teams relocated back to Los Angeles.
The Super Bowl will return to the Los Angeles area in February, and if the current NFL standings are any indication, neither team that calls SoFi Stadium home is expected to be on hand for the festivities. The Rams at least have a smidge of momentum, coming off a season-high 35 points in their win over the Raiders to inch closer to .500. While quarterback Matthew Stafford’s 1,989 passing yards led the league entering Thursday, the two-headed running back monster of Kyren Williams (492 yards, five TDs) and Blake Corum (316 yards, two TDs) have added to the offensive outburst. Stafford, with his three touchdown passes last week, became the all-time Rams leader in touchdown passes (155) and is the first player to hold the franchise career passing TDs record for multiple teams (282 for the Lions). The Chargers have much less to celebrate. While on their bye week, Miami won last week, leaving the Chargers as the last winless NFL team. Quarterback Justin Herbert, not far removed from consideration as a rising star in the league, has struggled behind an offensive line which started four rookies in the team’s most recent 22-6 loss to the Chiefs. Herbert has thrown an interception in every game this season, with eight against five touchdowns. The Chargers are last in the NFL with 15.0 points per game. The defense that was so strong a year ago is allowing 123.8 rushing yards per contest (21st in the NFL) and 25.2 points (22nd).
Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) at Denver Broncos (5-2)
Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET
FanDuel: Chiefs -1.5. Total: 40.5
Series Rewind: Denver beat the Chiefs three consecutive times and four of five before getting drilled 31-10 on Monday Night Football to open the season. Before the Broncos’ recent success, Kansas City defeated Denver 16 straight times, a streak that began with the Chiefs bottling up Peyton Manning in a 29-13 victory over Nov. 15, 2015. Manning was 5-of-20 passing for 35 yards and four interceptions before being pulled in favor of Brock Osweiler.
The two longtime AFC West rivals are battling for first place in the division. The Chiefs took their first loss of the season last week when they fell 20-3 to the host Seattle Seahawks. That has given the Broncos the opportunity to move atop the division if they can win a fourth consecutive game. One of Denver’s victories during the stretch was a 17-14 home overtime decision against the Seahawks. Quarterback Bo Nix passed for 222 yards in last week’s 30-16 road victory over the Arizona Cardinals. It marks Nix’s second-highest yardage output of the season. Nix also scored on a 62-yard run, the longest scoring run by a quarterback in Broncos’ history. Denver wideout Jaylen Waddle (chest) reaggravated an injury late against the Cardinals and his status is something to watch. The Chiefs will try to bounce back from a performance in which they had just 213 yards. Patrick Mahomes passed for a season-worst 165 yards while running back Kenneth Walker III had a season-low 36 yards and 2.6 yards per carry. Walker topped 100 yards in four of Kansas City’s first five games. Mahomes has gone consecutive games without a touchdown pass after firing nine in the first four games of the season. The Chiefs have allowed 10 or fewer points in three of their victories and they would like to replicate their Week 1 effort. Kansas City held the Broncos to 176 yards with Nix throwing for 131 while being sacked four times. Walker rushed for 173 yards, including a 60-yard TD.
New England Patriots (4-3) at Miami Dolphins (1-5)
Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET
FanDuel: Patriots -7 Total: 43.5
Series Rewind: New England has won the past two meetings — both last season — after the Dolphins won eight of the previous nine. The Patriots scored more than 17 points just once in those eight setbacks. Things changed last season with New England putting up 38 and 33 points in the two wins.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has topped 300 yards in two of the past three games and has thrown 12 touchdown passes over the last four outings after having just one passing score over the first three games. He completed a season-high 77.4% of his passes in a 30-24 road loss to the Chicago Bears on Oct. 22.
New England won its previous three games when it averaged 33.3 points. Not a single Patriots player has 300 receiving yards but five have more than 200, led by tight end Hunter Henry (296). He had season-bests of seven catches and 71 yards against Chicago. New England linebacker Elijah Ponder is breaking out as a second-year pro and has a team-best 5.5 sacks. The Dolphins are fresh off their first victory of the season as they recorded a 28-25 road win over the New York Jets. Running back Ollie Gordon II had 103 yards for his second 100-yard rushing output in three games. He had 88 yards in the other contest. Gordon has 339 rushing yards with four touchdowns and has quickly softened the loss of De’Von Achane (season-ending ACL tear). Miami hasn’t been opportunistic as it has just five takeaways (four interceptions, one fumble) and it also has produced an NFL-low six sacks. Another ugly stat is that the Dolphins have allowed opponents to complete a stunning 76.6% of their passes. No other team has allowed 70%. On the offensive side, Miami ranks 30th in passing at 162.0 yards per game. Malik Willis has completed just 57.6% of his throws with four touchdowns against four interceptions.
Philadelphia Eagles (2-5) at Washington Commanders (1-4-1)
Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Commanders -5.5, Total 40.5
Series Rewind: The Eagles began 2026 with a 24-22 home win vs. the Commanders, with Jalen Hurts throwing three TD passes and Philadelphia stopping Washington’s two-point conversion with 1:01 to play.
The NFC East rivals were a combined 0-6-1 during the month of October. Washington is coming off a bye week and hasn’t won since Sept. 27. Philadelphia is coming off a Monday night loss at home against Dallas and hasn’t won since Sept. 20. The Eagles are trying to avoid their first six-game losing streak since an eight-game skid in Andy Reid’s final season as head coach in 2012. Both teams have dealt with defensive lapses. Only Arizona (29.7) is giving up more points per game than Washington (28.7). The Commanders also have the NFL’s worst red-zone defense, allowing TDs on 18 of their opponents’ 22 trips. Philadelphia is tied with Indianapolis for the fewest takeaways (three) and is the only team that hasn’t recovered a fumble. Only Miami (six) has fewer sacks than the Eagles (eight), and the Dolphins have played one fewer game. Three of Philadelphia’s biggest weapons on offense are dealing with injuries: Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks all missed practice to begin the short week.
Chicago Bears (5-2) at Seattle Seahawks (4-3)
Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET
FanDuel odds: Seahawks -3, Total 46.5
Series Rewind: The Seahawks beat the Bears 6-3 on Dec. 26, 2024, and lead the all-time series 12-6.
All of a sudden one of the matchups of the game is left guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. The Seahawks acquired Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts and plugged the 30-year-old into a line in need of a boost. Left tackle Charles Cross (Achilles) is hurting, and the critical factor for the offense has been limiting the heat on quarterback Sam Darnold. Nelson gets a chance to tangle with Simmons, acquired by the Bears from the Titans this week, a matchup he’s infinitely familiar with from their time in the AFC South. They squared off on Oct. 18 when the Titans beat the Colts, 26-20. The Bears have won their past two games since quarterback Caleb Williams returned from a hamstring injury. Williams went 30 of 36 for 305 yards and a touchdown in a 31-23 victory Oct. 18 at Atlanta, and he was 22 of 33 for 308 yards and two TDs in a 30-24 win Oct. 22 over visiting New England. Williams and the Bears will be going up against a Seattle defense that didn’t allow quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the previously undefeated Kansas City Chiefs to reach the red zone last Sunday night. The Seahawks prevailed 20-3 to snap a two-game skid.

NBA
NBA ROUNDUP: SPURS TOP TIMBERWOLVES BEHIND VICTOR WEMBANYAMA’S 43
Victor Wembanyama poured in a season-high 43 points to help the host San Antonio Spurs defeat the short-handed Minnesota Timberwolves 121-111 on Saturday for their fourth straight victory.
The Timberwolves, already missing star Anthony Edwards (knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles surgery), also played without defensive stopper Rudy Gobert due to low back spasms and lost for the third time in four games.
The Spurs trailed by a point at halftime before taking a five-point lead into the fourth quarter, thanks in part to a 10-0 run. Dylan Harper added 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Spurs, while De’Aaron Fox scored 22 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists.
Ayo Dosunmu led the Timberwolves with 27 points and nine rebounds, while Jaden McDaniels and Jonathan Kuminga tallied 19 points each LaMelo Ball was 2-for-10 from the field for 10 points before fouling out.
Blazers 112, Jazz 90
Deni Avdija and Damian Lillard combined for 46 points, including 13 in an early 17-0 run, and Portland cruised past Utah in Salt Lake City.
Avdija finished with a game-high 24 points and Lillard had 22 as the Trail Blazers improved to 4-1, winning for the first time since losing star guard Ja Morant for likely the entire month of November with a strained left hamstring. Jrue Holiday, Toumani Camara and Scoot Henderson each scored 14 points for Portland, and teammate Donovan Clingan chipped in with a game-high nine rebounds.
Rookie Darryn Peterson had 16 points to pace the Jazz and tied Keyonte George and Isaiah Collier for team-high assists with four. Lauri Markkanen added 13 points and Brice Sensabaugh 12 for Utah, which hadn’t previously been held under 103 points this season.
76ers 109, Hornets 104
Tyrese Maxey poured in a season-high 38 points and Philadelphia scored 13 straight points down the stretch to defeat host Charlotte.
Maxey made 13 of 23 shots from the field, including four 3-pointers, and went 8-for-9 from the free-throw line. Anfernee Simons provided 19 points off the bench, Jaylen Brown scored 16, Jabari Walker had 12 and VJ Edgecombe finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. Dean Wade added 10 assists for the 76ers.
Reserve Grayson Allen’s season-high 27 points led the Hornets, who have lost three times in a four-night stretch. Brandon Miller added 24 points, Naz Reid had 14 and Moussa Diabate contributed 10, but Charlotte couldn’t capitalize on shooting 50% from the field (38 of 76).
Grizzlies 136, Kings 105
Rookie forward Cameron Boozer scored a career-high 27 points and Isaiah Stewart added a season-high 24 off the bench as host Memphis remained the league’s only unbeaten team with a win over now 0-6 Sacramento.
The 6-0 start for the Grizzlies matches the franchise’s best opening stretch, which was first accomplished during the 2014-15 season.
Boozer was 8 of 14 from the floor with nine rebounds. Stewart made 8 of 9 shots and scored his 24 points in only 21 minutes. Memphis got 81 points from its bench and made 19 of 38 (50%) from long range. Rookie guard Darius Acuff Jr. led the Kings with a career-high 38 points, including nine 3-pointers on 14 attempts.
Pelicans 121, Hawks 99
Saddiq Bey came off the bench to score a season-high 25 points and spark New Orleans past visiting Atlanta for the Pelicans’ second straight win.
The win allowed the Pelicans to end a four-game losing streak against the Hawks, who had won the last three meetings in New Orleans. Bey, who spent parts of two seasons with the Hawks from 2023-24, went 9-for-13 from the field with six rebounds and four steals.
The Hawks got 14 points from CJ McCollum and 13 points from Jalen Johnson, who left the game with a sprained ankle in the fourth quarter. A brief skirmish broke out with 3:04 remaining, resulting in double technicals for Atlanta’s Kingston Flemings, who was ejected, and New Orleans’ Julian Reese.
Cavaliers 136, Bucks 111
Evan Mobley scored a season-high 27 points and Jarrett Allen had 25 points and 11 rebounds as Cleveland routed host Milwaukee.
Donovan Mitchell added 15 points and James Harden had 13 points and seven assists for the Cavaliers, who earned their first road win in three tries this season. Their largest lead was 112-76 early in the fourth quarter. Allen posted his 250th career double-double.
Kel’el Ware had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Tyler Herro scored 15 points on 5-of-18 shooting as the Bucks lost their second straight and fifth of six games to start the season. Both players were acquired in the July trade that sent superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat.
Rockets 119, Thunder 98
Jabari Smith Jr. scored 30 points, Marcus Smart added 24 with seven 3-pointers, and host Houston cruised past depleted Oklahoma City.
Smart started in place of guard Fred VanVleet (rest) and keyed an early charge. Smith and Alperen Sengun, who had 16 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, helped carry the load as the Rockets bounced back from a road loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, their first defeat of the season. Smith added nine rebounds and five assists while shooting 6-for-12 from 3-point range. Smart finished 7-for-10 from beyond the arc as the Rockets made 18 of 41 3-point attempts (43.9%).
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 26 points to lead the Thunder, who were without three starters — Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren and Cason Wallace — because of long-term injuries. Kenrich Williams made three 3-pointers and tallied 11 points with seven rebounds, while Jared McCain chipped in 10 points. Isaiah Hartenstein had 10 points and seven rebounds.

NHL
NHL ROUNDUP: PREDATORS’ STEVEN STAMKOS HAUNTS OLD TEAM IN SHOOTOUT
Former Tampa Bay captain Steven Stamkos scored the only goal in the fourth round of the shootout as the host Nashville Predators rallied to beat the Lightning 5-4 on Saturday afternoon.
Stamkos, who tied it 4-4 with a power-play tally at 7:27 of the third period, beat Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy under the right arm with a backhander for the game-winning goal. Playing in his first shootout in his 83rd appearance — an NHL record — Nashville goalie Justus Annunen (22 saves) denied four Lightning in the 1-on-1 session as the Predators won for the first time in their six overtime contests this season.
Reid Schaefer scored his first goal of the season for Nashville, while Adam Edstrom and Jayden Struble also added markers.
Nikita Kucherov produced three assists the day after asking the Lightning to trade him while Vasilevskiy posted 29 saves.
Bruins 5, Blackhawks 4 (OT)
Elias Lindholm scored at 2:32 of overtime as Boston rallied from two goals down in the third period to beat visiting Chicago.
Lindholm took Charlie McAvoy’s assist, drove hard to the front of the net and slotted the game-winner past outstretched Chicago goaltender Arvid Soderblom (27 saves) after Boston counterpart Michael DiPietro (37 saves) stopped Anton Frondell’s hat trick bid on a breakaway at the other end.
David Pastrnak, Casey Mittelstadt, Mason Lohrei and Morgan Geekie also scored for Boston, with the latter two scoring in the third. Pastrnak passed Patrice Bergeron for third on the franchise’s all-time goals list (428). For Chicago, Connor Bedard had a goal and an assist and Ryan Greene also scored.
Blues 5, Red Wings 4
Aleksanteri Kaskimaki scored his first career goal with 6:45 remaining to cap St. Louis’ rally from a two-goal, third-period deficit in a victory over host Detroit.
Kaskimaki tipped in an Alexey Toropchenko pass to complete the comeback. Jimmy Snuggerud and Justin Barron each had a goal and an assist, while Dalibor Dvorsky and Pavel Buchnevich also scored. Joel Hofer made 24 saves in the opener of a four-game road trip.
Lucas Raymond had a goal and an assist to lead the Red Wings. J.T. Compher and Keegan Kolesar scored their first goals of the season. Emmitt Finnie added a power-play goal for the Red Wings, while John Gibson made 10 saves.
Stars 3, Blue Jackets 1
Jake Oettinger made 24 saves and Dallas scored twice in the opening period before skating past visiting Columbus.
Mikko Rantanen, Thomas Harley and Arttu Hyry scored in the finale of a six-game homestand for Dallas, which was coming off back-to-back one-sided losses on the heels of a five-game winning streak.
Damon Severson scored and Jet Greaves made 14 saves for Columbus, which has lost two in a row and scored 6:21 into the third to prevent Oettinger’s fourth shutout of the season.
Senators 5, Sharks 1
Dylan Cozens and Tim Stutzle each had a goal and an assist, and Ottawa scored three second-period goals to cruise past host San Jose.
Shane Pinto had an empty-net goal and an assist, and Drake Batherson and Ridly Greig also scored for the Senators, who are 2-1-1 in their past four games. Samuel Ersson made 22 saves.
Michael Misa scored for the Sharks, who have lost three of four. Alex Nedeljkovic made 30 saves for San Jose, which won 6-2 at Ottawa on Oct. 22. Each team was 0-for-3 on its power play.
Oilers 4, Islanders 0
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins opened and closed a three-goal second-period flurry for Edmonton, which dominated host New York in Elmont.
Vasily Podkolzin scored the middle goal in the second while Jason Dickinson added an empty-netter late in the third for the Oilers. Goaltender Tristan Jarry made 18 saves in his second consecutive shutout. Jarry had 24 saves in Edmonton’s 4-0 win over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night. Connor McDavid extended his NHL-record season-opening assist streak to 14 games by collecting the primary helper on Nugent-Hopkins’ second goal.
Goalie Ilya Sorokin recorded 20 saves for the Islanders, who had their two-game winning streak snapped as they were held without a point for just the second time in the last nine games (5-2-2).
Sabres 3, Kings 2
Tage Thompson scored twice, including the go-ahead goal in the third period, to help Buffalo beat host Los Angeles.
Jack Quinn had a goal and an assist and Zach Benson and Rasmus Dahlin each had two assists for the Sabres, who have won three in a row. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 27 saves.
Corey Perry and Andre Lee scored for the Kings while Anton Forsberg made 28 saves.
Los Angeles played without top-line winger Adrian Kempe (three goals, five assists), who is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.
Maple Leafs 4, Canucks 2
William Nylander and Teddy Blueger each had a goal and an assist as Toronto held off host Vancouver to snap a two-game skid.
Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz made 26 saves and recorded his third assist of the season. Leevi Merilainen stopped 24 shots for the Canucks, who are 1-11-1 in their last 13 games.
Max Sasson brought Vancouver within one 9:27 into the third period before Blueger sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 18:24. Auston Matthews and Zack MacEwen scored in the second period to give Toronto a two-goal lead. Brock Boeser scored the Canucks’ first goal.
Canadiens 5, Penguins 4
Josh Anderson had two goals and an assist and host Montreal held on for a win over Pittsburgh.
Chris Kreider contributed a goal and an assist while Oliver Kapanen and Alexandre Texier also scored for the Canadiens, who have won five in a row. Lane Hutson contributed two assists and Jacob Fowler stopped 25 shots.
Sidney Crosby and Erik Karlsson had a goal and two assists each and Tommy Novak and Rickard Rakell each added a goal and an assist for the Penguins, who lost their second straight. Sergei Murashov made 22 saves. Crosby recorded his 1,112th career assist to move past Ray Bourque (Boston, 1979-2000) for the most assists by a player with one franchise.
Avalanche 5, Flames 2
Artturi Lehkonen had two goals, Brock Nelson also scored before briefly leaving the game in the second period, and Colorado beat Calgary in Denver.
Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas each collected one goal and one assist, Cale Makar had four assists and Devon Toews had two assists for the Avalanche. Mackenzie Blackwood made 25 saves for Colorado, which has won consecutive games for the first time since the first two games of the season.
Joel Farabee and Martin Pospisil scored goals and Arsenii Sergeev turned away 28 shots for Calgary, which drew the only penalties in the game — a minor in the second period and a double minor late in the third.

DARREN FICHARDT’S LIGHTS-OUT 61 GETS HIM 36-HOLE LEAD AT SIMMONS BANK
South African Darren Fichardt tied the mark for lowest round of the PGA Tour Champions season with an 11-under-par 61 in the second round Saturday to take a one-stroke lead at 14-under 130 into the final round of the Simmons Bank Championship in Little Rock, Ark.
Fichardt’s bogey-free round left him one shot better that first-round leader Zach Johnson (67). The 50-year-old Johnson, a two-time major winner, overcame an uneven front nine to shoot 5 under on the back nine to earn a spot in Sunday’s final group.
New Zealand’s Steven Alker also shot a 67 on Saturday, tying him for third at 11 under and gaining him the last spot in the final threesome Sunday. Sweden’s Henrik Stenson (68) is tied with Alker while South Africa’s Retief Goosen (66), Jerry Kelly (67), Argentine Ricardo Gonzalez (67) and Michael Block (69) tied for fifth at 9 under. Four other golfers are another shot back.
Fichardt, a Tour rookie, started his day on fire at Pleasant Valley Country Club, parring the par-4 first hole before going birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie over the next four. He shot an 8-under 28 on before the turn, then birdied Nos. 10 and 11 before cooling off and parring the next six holes. He birdied the par-5 18th to end his round.
His 61 tied the tournament record set in the first round last year by Alker.
The top 36 players in the Charles Schwab Cup standings after Sunday will advance to the Cup Championship in Phoenix in two weeks.
Fichardt’s round propelled him from 46th to a projected 13th in the standings.
“The first 11 holes was awesome,” the 51-year-old Fichardt said after what he called his “best round ever.”
“I was a little irritated because (Friday) I felt like I could go low and not too much went right,” he added. “But I could feel the lines were getting close to being spot on. You know, I’ve come off four really tough weeks where I thought I could do a lot better, but I was struggling with a few injuries. So yeah, it was good to get a good round today.”
“Yeah, that was a heck of a score,” said Alker, whose 61 came in the first round last year. “Today was the day to do it, right? I mean, there’s no wind. Fire at some flags and try to take advantage of it. … It was a heck of a round.”
Alker is also one of the golfers to post a 61 this season, doing so in the second round of the Rogers Charity Classic. The season’s other 61, by Mark Wilson, came in the same round as Alker.
Johnson, a fellow rookie and one of six players to get their first Tour win this season, credited his round-opening bogey as one of the reasons he was able to weather a front nine that included two bogeys and two birdies.
“I actually made a really bad but yet very good bogey, if that makes sense, on the first hole,” he said after his round. “I mean, I don’t know what I made, probably a 10-footer for 5. … And then I steadied it. I played pretty good.”

ANDREW NOVAK EXTENDS LEAD TO 6 STROKES AFTER 3 ROUNDS IN MEXICO
Andrew Novak continued his blistering pace, carding a 9-under-par 62 on Saturday and extending his lead to six strokes after three rounds of the VidantaWorld Mexico Open in Vallarta, Mexico.
Novak backed up his course-record-tying 10 under 61 on Friday to reach 23-under 190 after 54 holes.
France’s Matthieu Pavon fired his second 65 of the week to get to 17 under and solo second place. Doug Ghim posted a 64 and is alone in third place at 16 under, while Pierceson Coody (64), Max Greyserman (66) and Ben Griffin (67) are tied for fourth at 15 under.
Novak, 31, is seeking his first individual PGA Tour victory. Ironically, he teamed with Griffin to win the Zurich Classic in New Orleans last season.
For the second consecutive day, Novak scorched the back nine. He went 5 under each day, but avenged a Friday bogey at the 610-yard par-5 12th hole by recording an eagle on Saturday. He pounded a 333-yard drive to the right edge of the fairway, hit his approach 277 yards to the middle of the green and sank a 20-foot putt to reach 21 under par.
Novak continued to dominate all the putting statistics on Saturday and leads the field with 128 feet, 5 inches of putts made through three rounds.
“You want to back up a really low round with something low, but you don’t usually expect that,” Novak said. “You expect usually there’s going to be some give, and you’ve just got to be patient with it the next day. I still kind of came out firing today, was throwing some darts, making putts and trying to stay out of my own way.”
The day did not start well for Pavon, who bogeyed the first hole, dropping behind Novak by five strokes. The Frenchman was only 1 under through seven holes, but drove the green on the 287-yard par-4 13th hole and converted a 46-foot putt for eagle. He gave one of those strokes right back with a bogey on the next hole, but finished birdie-birdie to keep himself within shouting distance of Novak.
“Yeah, it’s funny like birdieing the last two, like strongest holes on the course, it’s just when you expect it the less, sometimes it comes the most,” said Pavon. “It was just like good shots, just like really focusing on every shot, trying to be at the right place on the greens and on the fairway, and ended up with making two nice putts. That’s just a very nice momentum and very positive stuff for tomorrow.”
Ghim is in a good position to finish the year in the Top 60, which grants players access to the first two signature events of 2027.
“It felt like I kind of put myself into locking up my card for next year and then kind of on the bubble again for the (top) 60,” said Ghim. “So just being able to kind of quiet the outside noise and just go do what I know that I can do.”
Novak knows the forgiving nature of the course and that, even with a sizable lead, he needs to finish strong to earn his first individual title.
“That would be very big,” said Novak. “And then obviously there’s implications for, what, 2028 and beyond. Yeah, it would be huge. Unless you’re Scottie or Rory, you don’t get to win a ton in golf so any opportunity to do so is pretty nice.”

DEFENDING CHAMP MIYU YAMASHITA MAINTAINS MAYBANK LEAD
Japan’s Miyu Yamashita fired a 5-under 67 on Saturday to maintain a two-stroke lead and move closer to defending her title at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia.
Yamashita enters Sunday at 18-under 198, matching her final total from last year when she prevailed in a three-way playoff at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. The 2025 Women’s British Open champion had six birdies and a bogey at the par-4 16th hole in the third round.
“It was a very nice round today,” she said. “I had a few tricky situations during the round, but I managed to get through them and finish without dropping a shot, so I’m really pleased with that.”
China’s Yan Liu and first-round leader Pauline Roussin-Bouchard of France are tied for second at 16-under. Liu shot the round of the day with a 9-under 63 that included an eagle at the par-5 18th hole. Roussin-Bouchard posted an up-and-down 67 with eight birdies and three bogeys.
Liu holed out from about 100 meters to finish her brilliant round.
“What a finish. What a day for me,” Liu said.
“I just really enjoy today. I focus on my game,” she added. “I think my swing is on very good position and my putting on fire today to be honest. Yeah, really happy for my putter, and I hope tomorrow it’s same.”
Roussin-Bouchard is in striking distance of her first LPGA Tour victory. She hit 14 of 18 greens in regulation and needed only 27 putts on Saturday.
“Whatever comes my way I’ll be ready to just face it on, and, yeah, same mindset,” she said. “Nothing is going really be changing. Hopefully I can get more endorphins going for tomorrow and a bit more pumped up because it’s so hot.”
Amateur Marisa Tojai of Thailand (65 on Saturday) and Robyn Choi of Australia (66) are tied for fourth at 14-under, two strokes ahead of India’s Aditi Ashok (66), France’s Perrine Delacour (67) and Spain’s Julia Lopez Ramirez (71).
Competing in her first tour event, Tojai eagled the par-5 10th hole and added six birdies and one bogey to climb seven spots on the leaderboard.
England’s Charley Hull dropped 13 spots into a tie for 18th at 9-under after an even-par 72.
The LPGA Tour’s four-event Asian swing concludes next week with the Toto Japan Classic at Omitama outside Tokyo. Japan’s Nasa Hataoka is the defending champion.

INDIANA PACERS
The Pacers (2-4) are back in Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday as they host the Brooklyn Nets (0-5) in a matinee matchup. Since Indiana clashed with Brooklyn last Sunday, the Nets have dropped games to the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons. The Pacers haven’t fared well either, and bring a 2-4 record into Sunday’s meeting.
Indiana has been severely undermanned all week – the Pacers had just 12 available players on Wednesday against Philadelphia, and just 11 players on Friday in Miami. They’ll look to regroup at home and get back in the win column against a struggling Nets team.
Quenton Jackson and Andrew Nembhard alleviated some guard issues on Friday as they dropped a pair of 20-point games despite the loss to the Heat. Jackson had a team-high 24 points, and Nembhard notched his first 20-point game of the season with 22 points and nine assists.
Julius Randle and Michael Porter Jr. are the leaders of Brooklyn’s offense as each average north of 20 points per game. Randle is a force in the paint with the ability to stretch the floor while Porter is a threat from range. Porter is attempting over eight 3-pointers per game this season, and is knocking them down at a 40 percent clip.
The Pacers found their own rhythm from deep on Friday after struggling from 3-point range to open the season. Indiana connected on 17 of its 37 tries from range – 46 percent shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Nembhard knocked down five triples, and Jay Huff and Jarace Walker each made three.
Indiana will look to keep that momentum rolling on Sunday in a winnable matchup. After clashing with the Nets, the Pacers will host the Atlanta Hawks on Monday on the second night of a back-to-back. It will be the second back-to-back of Indiana’s season.
Probable Starters
Pacers: G – Andrew Nembhard, G – Aaron Nesmith, F – Kelly Oubre Jr., F – Pascal Siakam, C – Jay Huff
Nets: G – Egor Demin, G – Keon Ellis, F – Michael Porter Jr., F – Julius Randle, C – Day’Ron Sharpe
Injury Report
Pacers: Andrew Nembhard – probable (sore/stiff neck), Aaron Nesmith – probable (left hamstring strain), Obi Toppin – questionable (sore lower back), Johnny Furphy – out (right ACL repair/surgery), Tyrese Haliburton – out (left hamstring strain), T.J. McConnell – out (right hamstring strain), Ben Sheppard – out (left meniscus tear), Ivica Zubac – out (left ankle sprain)
Nets: TBA
Last Meeting
Oct. 25, 2026: The Pacers trailed at the end of the first quarter, but Tyrese Haliburton’s 24-point double-double pushed Indiana to victory in Brooklyn, 136-109.
Haliburton had 11 assists to go with his 24 points and shot 8-of-13 from the field. Pascal Siakam contributed 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists alongside Haliburton, and Obi Toppin notched another 16 points off the bench. Indiana had seven players reach double figure scoring totals, and dominated the Nets.
The Pacers shot a scorching 58 percent from the field, including a season-high 49 percent from 3-point range. Indiana led for 81 percent of the game.
The Brooklyn duo of Michael Porter Jr. and Julius Randle scored a combined 20 points, and shot just 6-for-21 from the field. Nolan Traore led the Nets off the bench with his 17 points and five assists.
The win was Indiana’s second in three games, and Brooklyn’s third straight loss.
Noteworthy
Coach Rick Carlisle will rejoin the team in Indiana after missing Friday’s game to attend a memorial service for his late father.
The Pacers are 118-85 against the Nets all-time.
The Pacers play the Nets four times this season. Indiana leads the season series, 1-0.
After Sunday’s matchup, Brooklyn will visit Gainbridge Fieldhouse again on January 11.

INDIANA FOOTBALL
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Defensive end Tobi Osunsanmi pounded the Merchants Bank Field at Memorial Stadium turf in elation, celebrating Hoosiers cheering around him, somewhere underneath it all Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey uncoiling from Osunsanmi’s victory clinching sack.
Indiana had survived 23-16 in overtime Saturday night over Minnesota and the way it happened reflected a season in which nothing comes easy except Hoosier Nation angst.
“We’re in the entertainment business,” head coach Curt Cignetti said with a hint of a smile, “so we thought, with (ESPN College GameDay) here, we ramp it up and make it entertaining for everybody.”
And then …
“I can’t say enough about this team finding a way when it really looked dire.”
How dire?
Nineteen seconds left in regulation, down by three points and needing at least 30 yards to have any shot at a score with a back-up quarterback?
No problem.
A 60-yard field goal from kickoff specialist Paddy McAteer, who had made just a 21-yarder in his three previous attempts this season, to force overtime?
Piece of cake.
Back-up quarterback Grant Wilson, having thrown just five passes all season (completing four), completed a crucial late-game 33-yard pass to Charlie Becker to give McAteer a chance, and then a 25-yard touchdown pass to Becker on the first play of overtime for the eventual winning points.
Got it.
Starting quarterback Josh Hoover, his previously banged up right arm dangling at his side from a bruising first-half hit, using his left arm to fist bump Wilson in a sideline greeting in the aftermath of that overtime touchdown.
It was all there.
Once again No. 4/4 Indiana, despite escalating mistakes that would have broken a less mentally tough team, found a way.
“Most people would go, the game is over,” Wilson said. “We believe. We believe in everything. You give us one second, we trust the process, trust the play call. Just execute.”
Previous Cignetti teams were known for early game score separation. Not this season. This is IU’s fifth Big Ten game to go down to the wire, the second straight to go into overtime. The Hoosiers (8-1 overall, 5-1 in the Big Ten) won four of them and just missed winning the fifth against Ohio State.
“We’re a band of brothers,” Becker said. “We’re going to fight through whatever we need to do to come out with a victory.”
Take those final 19 seconds of regulation. It came just after Minnesota kicker Luke Drzewiecki had made his own 60-yard field goal for a 16-13 Gopher lead. The Hoosiers seemed finished. Instead, they were just getting started.
“We prepare for that all the way through the spring, through fall camp,” Wilson said. “We do the two-minute and one-minute drills.
“Charlie Becker is the best receiver in college football. Just give him a chance and he makes the play. And then Paddy makes an unbelievable kick. He’s a man.”
First-half mistakes — including an interception, punts of 15 and 27 yards, a blocked field goal attempt, a missed 31-yard field goal attempt, fair catching a punt inside the 5-yard line and a holding penalty that negated a first-down-producing pass — left IU trailing 10-7 at halftime.
A botched fourth-quarter field goal snap seemed to end Hoosier chances. They fell behind 13-10, then 16-13.
Instead, it added another thrill to the Cignetti legacy.
“We withstood it,” he said. “The offense was frazzled a little bit. Special teams, we have a good punter and he had a rough day. We have a good field goal kicker and he had a rough day.
“But we hung in there. Other guys made plays and we overcame.”
Hoosier problems surfaced 20 minutes before kickoff when veteran linebacker Rolijah Hardy hurt his back in warmups and was unable to play, forcing true freshman Jacob Savage into starting action. Savage finished with four tackles and two pass breakups.
“That was a shock,” Cignetti said about Hardy’s injury. “It was an adjustment we had to make.”
Even without Hardy, IU’s defense was ferocious, especially early on, when it held Minnesota (5-3, 3-2) to 12 yards in 13 plays over four possessions. That included one sack and four tackles for loss.
Overall, the Hoosiers held the Gophers to 215 yards and 10 first downs. They had four sacks and 11 tackles for loss. Osunsanmi had two tackles for loss and that victory clinching sack. Safety Preston Zachman led with nine tackles.
“We don’t need to be superheroes,” said Osunsanmi. “We don’t need to do anything out of the ordinary. Just rely on all the guys to do their jobs.”
Added Cignetti: “We’ve got really good (defensive) players. We’re really good up front. Our linebackers are good. Our DBs are good. The defense is the strength of this team. There’s no doubt about it.”
Offensively, Hoover was 8-for-19 for 119 yards, one touchdown and one interception, all in the first half. Running back Lee Beebe Jr. ran with a refuse-to-go-down fury. He had 84 bruising yards in 15 carries. Becker caught eight passes for 149 yards.
The Hoosiers finished with 419 total yards.
“The offense was not so good early on,” Cignetti said, “but played better in the second half.”
Grant Wilson | Action
Cignetti’s halftime message to Wilson was brief and to the point — your number is being called, get ready.
Wilson, who is in his seventh college season after previous stops at Fordham and Old Dominion, did as he was told.
“It’s the journey I’ve been on, seven years in college, a lot of ups and downs,” he said. “The emotions were, just do your job, be prepared and make sure you’re doing the right things.”
Wilson finished 9-for-17 for 156 yards and a touchdown. He also ran four times for 26 yards.
“Grant has some real qualities,” Cignetti said. “He’s a big, tall, strong guy. He has a strong arm and can push the ball down the field. He can run.
“I have total confidence in him. He’s a great team guy. The guys on the team love him.”
Through it all, Wilson never wavered.
“I’m so thankful to be here and that Coach Cignetti believed in me.
“It’s trust in our system. We have the two best offensive coordinators (Mike Shanahan and Tino Sunseri), the best head coach, the best position coaches in the country. Then you look to your right and your left and you see Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh. You can’t go wrong.
“We have the best O-line, the best running backs, the best tight ends. It’s trust in this group. They made awesome plays and we got the win.”
Becker wasn’t surprised Wilson delivered when it mattered most.
“He’s a super talented quarterback. We have all the faith in the world in him. He can handle any situation. He balled out and got us the W.”
Paddy McAteer | Action
Two seconds remained in regulation and IU trailed 16-13. McAteer, a native of Ireland who grew up playing Gaelic football and who didn’t kick an American football until he was 20 years old, had his chance with the weight of Hoosier Nation on his shoulders. Blessed with a strong leg, his main role was as kickoff specialist.
On Saturday night, Halloween night, his role expanded. He never flinched.
“I love those moments,” he said. “That’s the way you have to be. It’s a moment you dream about as a child.”
Dream came with this reality. IU never practices 60-yard field goals. McAteer called it the “forbidden zone.”
“It’s very rare you see guys hit them in a game, and we had two of them,” he said.
“For me, I don’t know if there will be many better than that.”
McAteer’s kick would have been good from at least 65 yards.
“My man Paddy drills that field goal right down the middle,” Cignetti said. “He’s made them in practice. I just told him, ‘Swing nice and easy’ because sometimes those kickers want to over kick those things. He’s got plenty of leg and as soon as he hit it, you knew it was good.”
Added Becker: “He nailed that thing. That was sick. It was so cool.”
Minnesota’s game-opening possession lost one yard in three plays. IU lost four yards in its first three plays. A 15-yard IU punt gave the Gophers the ball on the Indiana 27-yard line and led to a 37-yard field goal and a 3-0 Minnesota lead.
Enter the defense. Safety Byron Baldwin Jr. blitzed and forced a fumble. Defensive lineman Josh Burnham recovered and ran it to the Gopher 14-yard line. Hoover’s 9-yard touchdown pass to Nick Marsh made it 7-3 with 6:43 left in the first quarter.
An Indiana drive that included a 17-yard completion to Becker and a 14-yarder to Tyler Morris ended with a blocked field goal.
Trickery from two pitches enabled Minnesota to complete a 39-yard touchdown pass after a 27-yard IU punt for a 10-7 Gopher lead with 4:15 left in the half.
The Hoosiers responded with a 22-yard pass to Marsh and a 33-yard completion to Shazz Preston to get the ball in the red zone, but the drive ended with a missed 31-yard Nico Radicic field goal attempt.
A deflected Hoover pass was intercepted resulting in the 10-7 halftime score.
Wilson took over at quarterback to start the third quarter. His 18-yard run got the Hoosiers out of a big hole near the end zone. Then it was Khobie Martin and Beebe Jr. running IU to midfield, then Wilson’s 11-yard pass to Becker and, finally, a 46-yard Radicic field goal for a 10-10 tie late in the third quarter.
After Minnesota retook the lead on a 52-yard field goal, Wilson hit Becker with a 47-yard pass. Beebe Jr. broke multiple tackles for a 13-yard run. A called touchdown pass from Wilson to Preston was overturned. A field goal snap was botched, with 9:11 left, the score remained 13-10.
Radicic tied it with a 34-yard field goal with three minutes remaining. The Gophers pushed ahead with their 60-yard field goal with 19 seconds left, which IU matched with McAteer’s 60-yarder, setting up Wilson’s game-winning overtime TD throw to Becker and the Hoosiers’ final defensive stand capped by Osunsanmi’s sack.
Now, after nine straight weeks, IU gets a bye.
“Nine straight weeks is tough,” Wilson said. “The guys banded together. Now we get a little break to get everyone healthy. Let’s finish the season one game at a time.”
For Wilson, it started with a phone call to his parents.
“They weren’t here. I just want to talk to them.”

PURDUE FOOTBALL
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Purdue football team fell 31-17 at Penn State on Saturday night.
Quarterback Ryan Browne passed for 142 yards and a touchdown, and Asaad Waseem led the team with 64 receiving yards on three catches. Xavier Townsend notched a team-high four receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Trailing 7-0 and facing a 3rd-and-6, Browne retreated from pressure and heaved an off-balanced deep pass to Townsend, connecting with the receiver for a 33-yard touchdown to tie the game. It was Purdue’s second-longest touchdown pass of the season.
After a defensive stop in the second quarter with Purdue down 14-7, Bisi Owens brought pressure up the middle and blocked a punt, which was scooped up by Jalil Hall and returned 31 yards for a touchdown. It marked Purdue’s first blocked punt returned for a touchdown since Mike Conway returned one blocked by Frank Halliburton against Northern Colorado on Sept. 6, 2008.
Owens tied the program record with two blocked punts in a season after also blocking one in the season opener against Indiana State.
Kicking in his home state, Pittsburgh native Jacobo Echeverria Lozano continued his hot streak and converted a career-long 49-yard attempt in the fourth quarter. The freshman is now 16-for-17 on field goal attempts this season, tying the program freshman record for made field goals in a season.
Curt Neal had a career day in the Nittany Lions’ backfield, recording his first two career unassisted sacks. Both came on third-down plays in the third quarter, and the first occurred on the edge of field goal range, leading to a missed 55-yard field goal attempt. Neal’s two sacks are the most by a Boilermaker in a single game so far this season.
Justin Denson Jr. led the defense with a career-high 15 tackles, another best by a Boilermaker in a game this season. Jojo Hayden finished second on the team with 10 tackles, his second time recording double-digit stops this year.
Penn State (4-4, 1-4 B1G) held a large edge in time of possession, 43:27 to 16:33, and rushed for 269 yards to secure its first Big Ten Conference win of the season.
UP NEXT
The Boilermakers (3-5, 2-3 B1G) return to West Lafayette next Saturday for the annual homecoming game, welcoming Maryland to Ross-Ade Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.

NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL
The University of Notre Dame football team (7-1) shut down Navy (2-6) in the second half for a 35-13 victory on a sunny and cool Halloween afternoon at Gillette Stadium located in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The Midshipmen held a 13-7 lead for 50 seconds in the first half before the Irish scored before halftime as part of a run of four touchdowns in four possessions.
Navy was able to compile 189 total yards in the first half, but Notre Dame’s defense flipped that script in the second half by holding the Midshipmen to 56 total yards and 0-4 on third down in the second half.
Luke Talich had one of those third down stops and led the Irish defense with 10 tackles in the game. Jaiden Ausberry piled up eight stops.
Offensively, it was a breakout game for sophomore wide receiver Jerome Bettis Jr. with six catches for 78 yards and his first career touchdown reception. Nolan James Jr. led the rushing attack for his second career 100-yard rushing game (107 yards on just nine carries). He added two long touchdown runs and has scored at least one touchdown in all eight Notre Dame games this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Navy earned three points on its first drive, running into the red zone before the Irish defense stepped up for a stop. Boubacar Traore made two key plays to end the drive. He stopped the Navy quarterback on a cut back run then dropped into coverage to break up a pass intended for the Midshipmen signal caller on a trick play at the pylon.
Notre Dame answered with its own scoring drive. Carr began the game 5-7 for 60 yards on the first possession, connecting with Jordan Faison for 36 yards. Nolan James Jr. rushed for 15 yards on the drive, but two of those runs were for first downs which included a fourth-and-one conversion.
On first-and-10 from the Navy 11, Carr hit Micah Gilbert on a slant pattern for a touchdown. The Irish had the lead 7-3 with 1:47 remaining in the first quarter.
Navy came back to earn another field goal as the Irish were able to buckle down in the red zone again. The Midshipmen got momentum when they converted a fourth-and-three from their own 42. The drive also was aided by a pass interference penalty on the Irish. The drive stalled at the nine-yard line, however, when Jayden Sanders broke up a third-down slant pass to force a 28-yard field goal.
Notre Dame was unable to move the ball on their next possession and gave the ball right back to Navy with just over seven minutes remaining in the half. The Midshipmen knew what they needed to do, work the clock and score before halftime. The home team did just that, driving 63 yards in 5:38 to take a 13-7 lead with 1:52 left.
That lead lasted just 50 seconds. Carr hit Gilbert and Faison for first downs to the Notre Dame 48-yard line. Nolan James Jr. then burst through a huge hole on the left side of the line and a downfield block from Faison to run 52 yards untouched for a score with :50 seconds remaining.
Notre Dame received the second half kickoff and put together another efficient drive. Carr connected with Ian Premer for nine yards, Jaden Greathouse for a first down then found Jerome Bettis Jr. on three consecutive passes. Bettis Jr. snagged them all for seven, nine then 14 yards down to the Navy five-yard line. Jonaz Walton carried three times from there, with the third tote a touchdown run behind house-clearing blocks from Sullivan Absher and Guerby Lambert.
The Irish had pushed the lead to 21-13 with 9:15 left in the third quarter.
Notre Dame’s defense was able to earn their first three-and-out of the game on Navy’s first possession of the second half. A first-down holding call pushed the Midshipmen behind the sticks, then two Jaiden Ausberry stops were sandwiched around a Madden Faraimo tackle and Navy punted the ball away on fourth-and-three.
Faraimo was playing in place of injured middle linebacker and captain Drayk Bowen, who was shaken up in the first first half and would not return to the game.
James Jr. then took over the Irish offense. He started the drive with five yards, then earned a first down after a nine-yard Greathouse catch. Two plays later he cut back for 12 yards to get the ball to the Navy 43. Carr then found Bettis Jr. for five yards and an unnecessary roughness call on Navy put the ball at the 23-yard line. On the next snap, James Jr. strolled through a gigantic hole on the left side and found the end zone for his second rushing touchdown of the game.
Navy earned one first down on its next drive before Notre Dame’s defense stepped up again. On third-and-short, Luke Talich, Jayden Sanders and Adon Shuler stuffed a wide run to the left short of the marker. It was fourth-and-two at the Navy 43.
Navy called a quarterback counter to the right and the Irish were ready. Talich and Shuler were joined by Rodney Dunham this time, who all stoned the play for a loss and the Irish offense was back in business.
It would not take long to extend the lead. On the final play of the third quarter Walton found 12 yards up the middle. After the break, Carr found a streaking Bettis Jr. wide open down the left sidelines for a 31-yard score – the first touchdown of the Irish legacy’s career.
The defense wasn’t done yet. Navy looked like they were going to pick up another first down on a throw-back screen on third and long, but Jaylen Sneed performed a great open field tackle to force another Midshipmen punt. At that point, Navy, which had piled up 189 yards in the first half, had just 41 total yards in the second half.
Notre Dame was called for holding on the punt, which affected the field position for the next Irish possession. Matt Jefferey caught a first down pass and Walton rushed for a first down to get the ball out to the 35. Carr then threw a laser to Jack Laren for a 21-yard gain across midfield.
The drive stalled after an Elijah Burress catch that looked like a 30-yard gain was reviewed and found his heel had hit out-of-bounds. The Irish faced fourth-and-five and decided to go for it. Carr found Walton out of the backfield for a 14-yard conversion to the Navy 25.
Notre Dame would drive no further than that, however. Navy held the Irish to a fourth-and-five attempt at the 23-yard line. Carr overthrew Jefferey on the play and Navy took over with 5:58 remaining. That drive would end quickly as well as the Irish defense was suffocating the Midshipmen attack throughout the second half.
The Irish would extinguish the rest of the game clock on their next possession. Aneyas Williams had a 28-yard run and Bettis a 12-yard catch from Noah Grubbs to move into the red zone before time ran out at the Navy 19-yard line.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After forcing a three-and-out on PC’s first drive, Pugh II blocked a punt, and BU got the ball at the PC 47-yard line. With a short field, the Bulldog offense put together a six-play drive that ended with a Sullivan touchdown reception as the Dawgs took the early 14-0 lead.
The Blue Hose missed a 27-yard field goal at the start of the second quarter, keeping the 14-point lead intact for BU. After a Butler drive stalled out, PC drove down the field and was deep in Butler territory. The Bulldog defense stood tall and forced a Blue Hose field goal as the home side put three points on the board. Butler closed the half with an 11-play, 50-yard drive that ended with a 45-yard field goal from Windley. BU took the 17-3 lead into the half.
After forcing PC to punt on their first drive of the half, BU drove down the field and tacked on seven more behind a 19-yard rushing touchdown from Passini. INDIANA STATE FOOTBALL
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Indiana State was unable to convert the key plays when they needed to the most on Saturday afternoon as the Sycamores fell to host Northern Iowa inside the UNI-Dome, 45-23.
The Sycamores (2-7, 0-5) moved the ball down to the UNI 2-yard line at the end of the first half, but a fumbled snap on the final play of the opening 30 minutes resulted in Indiana State unable to convert and gave the Panthers (4-3, 3-2) the 17-9 first half lead.
Indiana State’s first drive of the second half was similar fashion as the Sycamores moved the ball inside the UNI 25-yard line, but penalties backed the offense up and a 41-yard field goal sailed wide to keep the score the same. Later in the contest, the Sycamores moved the ball into the middle of the field midway in the fourth quarter, but the 4th Down pass went through the receiver’s hands and into the arms of UNI safety Calvin Jaworski for a 60-yard pick-six to stretch the lead to 45-23.
UNI, meanwhile, utilized the two-headed running back scheme of Christian Collins (11 carries, 107 yards, 2 TD) and Xavier Terrell (16 carries, 103 yards, 2 TD) to gain 240 yards in the contest. Terrell scored both his rushing touchdowns in the second half with his 38-yard carry stretching the lead back out to 38-23 with 4:06 to play in the game.
The Sycamore offense had one final push at the end as Indiana State moved the ball down to the UNI 2-yard line late in the game. However, the UNI pass rush forced an errant throw into the end zone and the Panthers were able to kneel the ball and run the clock out to secure the MVFC win.
Elijah Owens, making his first appearance since Sept. 19, 2026, against Valparaiso, finished with a career-high 313 passing yards and two touchdowns, while adding 24 carries for 122 yards and a score on the ground. The Panthers tied the game up at 3-3 with 23 seconds remaining in the quarter on a Blake Pankratz 24-yard field goal.
UNI went up 10-3 with 8:43 remaining in the second quarter as Christian Collins scored on a 15-yard carry.
The Sycamores put their first touchdown on the board with 4:45 remaining in the first half as Elijah Owens found KeShon Singleton for an 18-yard touchdown pass, but the kick failed to make it a 10-9 game.
UNI added to the lead in the second quarter as Jaxon Dailey found Taj Hughes for a 12-yard touchdown pass with 1:09 remining in the second quarter to make it a 17-9 halftime lead.
The Panthers added to the score with 3:47 left in the third quarter as Xavier Terrell scored on a nine-yard carry to put the game at 24-9.
Max McCool hauled in a 14-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Owens with 1:34 remaining in the third quarter to cap an eight-play, 84-yard drive highlighted by a 34-yard completion from Owens to Jayden Reed down the right sideline to make it a 24-16 game.
Christian Collins broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown carry with 13:13 remaining in the fourth quatrer to stretch the UNI lead back to 31-16.
Elijah Owens called his own number with the two-yard quarterback keeper to end a 13-play, 75-yard drive with 8:49 remaining in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 31-23.
Xavier Terrell broke loose for his second touchdown run of the game on a 38-yard TD carry to make it a 38-23 score with 4:06 remaining in the game.
Calvin Jaworski hauled in the bobbled pass over the middle and returned the ball 60 yards for a pick-six with 2:34 remaining to provide the final 45-23 scoring margin.
