Offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter discusses Josh Downs’ role on offense and how he’s seen defenses cover him that may be different from previous seasons. Cooter also touches on running back Jonathan Taylor’s production on offense and what the offensive coaching staff can do to get him back over 100 yards. Similar to Downs, Cooter has noticed defenses have approached Taylor in a more aggressive way. He also shares his observations of the Steelers defense in Week 5. Cooter was really happy with how Jalen Travis handled TJ Watt, who is widely regarded as one of the best defensive players in the league: https://www.colts.com/video/jim-bob-cooter-on-jonathan-taylor-s-production-colts-vs-titans-week-6
Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo shares his thoughts on how the Colts defense has performed the last couple weeks, as well as how players have taken accountability for mistakes. Anarumo details the tackling issues he’s seen and how the defense can fix those heading into the rest of the season. Anarumo highlights how the defense locked down Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf and tight end Darnell Washington, but is aware that collectively, not enough was done. The biggest thing he thinks the defense needs to improve on: allowing explosive plays: https://www.colts.com/video/lou-anarumo-knows-explosive-plays-must-be-eliminated-by-colts-defense-colts-vs-titans-week-6
Special teams coordinator Brian Mason continues to be impressed by kicker Spencer Shrader’s performance each week, and says Shrader is fully cleared to resume his regular kicking schedule after sustaining a groin injury in warm ups during Week 3. Mason has seen improvement from returner Anthony Gould each week as well. Although the special teams unit has been playing very well, there are a couple of things Mason hopes to clean up in practices this week: https://www.colts.com/video/brian-mason-on-rigoberto-sanchez-spencer-shrader-s-performances-thus-far-colts-vs-titans-week-6
