INDIANA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAMES TO WATCH
GAMES ON INDIANA SRN
GUERIN CATHOLIC AT BISHOP CHATARD…Guerin Catholic dropped below the .500 mark last week with a road loss to Roncalli 35-17. Now they must find a way to come back and play at Bishop Chatard, the Indiana SRN #1 team in 4A. BC doesn’t lose at home very often. The Eagles don’t run the ball very well and that spells trouble against a very good Trojans defense. BC beat Brebeuf last Friday 38-14 to improve to 4-1. Look for QB Harrison Odom to have another excellent game leading BC to another win.

RITTER AT HERITAGE CHRISTIAN…Ritter lost to Lutheran 28-14 last Friday giving up 14 fourth quarter points. Ritter has a balanced attack led by QB Jayden Graham and RB Renaldo Thomas. Meanwhile Heritage Christian continues to struggle after dropping a 50-6 contest to Wes-Del last Friday. The Eagles are 0-5, and have yet to throw a touchdown pass this season. They average less than 171 yards of total offense per game.

NORTHEASTERN AT LAPEL…The Bulldogs are 5-0 after beating New Castle last week 42-13. Like most good football teams, Lapel has a balanced offensive attack led by QB Max Lockhart and RB Jack Miller. The Knights will need the safe offensive output they had last week in their 56-42 shootout over Centerville. Northeastern throws the ball better than they run thanks to QB Jarrett Leitner. Now the defense will need to step up if they plan on beating the Bulldogs.

ELSEWHERE:
WESTFIELD 5-0 AT BROWNSBURG 5-0…This will be the game of the year at this point. Both teams 5-0, both teams are loaded on both sides of the football, and they know each other very well. Brownsburg is #1 in 6A, Westfield is #2. The Rocks have lost to Brownsburg in the state 6A title game for the past two seasons including last year’s 38-31 final. The Bulldogs have won six straight from the Rocks. Westfield is coming off a 36-7 win over HSE, while Brownsburg rolled at Fishers 49-10. The Bulldogs are averaging 45 ppg. Westfield is scoring at a 40.8 ppg clip. Both defenses are solid. This may come down to whomever takes care of the football better.

CASTLE 4-1 AT EVEANSVILLE REITZ 5-0…The Knights are 4-1 after beating Boonville on the road 34-6. Evansville Reitz is rolling at 5-0 after beating Evansville Central 61-13. The Panthers have a high octane offense averaging over 50 ppg. Reitz is the favorite after dropping last year’s regular season game at Castle 28-25.

CROWN POINT 5-0 AT VALPO 4-1….The Bulldogs are rolling thanks in part to their stiff defense. They are giving up less than 10 ppg. Crown Point continues to be a favorite in 6A football and are coming off a 55-12 win over Portage. The Vikings are 4-1 following a tough 21-14 win over Chesterton. It may not be much of an advantage but the Vikings are happy to be at home this week. Crown Point is a two touchdown favorite.

DANVILLE 5-0 AT YORKTOWN 4-1…The Warriors are rolling at 5-0 after winning at Lebanon last week 28-14. QB Carter Ward has a completion rate of 79%, with eight touchdowns and zero interceptions. The ground attack averages over 247 yards per game led by Daiton Hood (104.2). Defensively the Warriors have nine QB sacks, 38 tackles for loss, and are giving up less than two touchdowns per game. Yorktown is the real deal coming in at 4-1 (the lone loss to New Pal 42-28). QB Sam Tokar is having a solid season already surpassing the 1,000 yard mark to go alone with 11 TD passes. His favorite targets are Kaden Crumes, and Cooper Luzadder (Combined 37 receptions and 7 TD’s). The Tigers are also very good defensively allowing under 14 ppg. Yorktown is ranked 9th in 4A.

DECATUR CENTRAL 4-1 AT PLAINFIELD 4-1…Decatur Central is rolling after a 31-6 loss to open the season against Avon. The Hawks have allowed just 27 points in its four game winning streak. Keep an eye on Sophomore QB Ezekiel Hester (146.4 ypg passing, 60.8 rushing), and RB Hunter Harvey (113.6). The Quakers also lost their season opener against Franklin Central. The four game winning streak included road wins at Harrison, Perry Meridian, and Bloomington North. QB Bryce Sebanc is one of the leaders in the state in most all categories including completions percentage (68%), yards per game (172.3), touchdowns (12), and fewest interceptions (1). The Quakers can also run the football at 134.4 ypg.

ELKHART 4-1 AT SB ST. JOSEPH 5-0….The Lions are 4-1 thanks to a high powered offense (40.4ppg). QB Micah Jarrell is a dual threat (140.4 yards passing per game, 4 rushing touchdowns). Keep an eye on WR Tamichael Brown (25.7 yards per reception). The Huskies are 5-0 and ranked 5th in 4A. They average 207.2 passing yards per game, and 125.8 yards on the ground. But, it’s their defense that makes them impressive, allowing just 6.2 ppg.

GIBSON SOUTHERN 4-1 AT HERITAGE HILLS 4-1…Like many teams, Gibson Southern lost their opening game (Floyd Central), but have rolled since then. This will be just their second road game of the season and that will make this one a challenge. The Titans love to throw the football with QB Caden Rochleau averaging 294.4 ypg to go along with 14 TD’s. And they can run the football (179.8 ypg). The Patriots can also score (49.2 ppg), and play defense (8.4 ypg). In fact, Heritage Hills has three straight shutouts (63-0 over Princeton, 47-0 at Southridge, 59-0 at Washington. Heritage Hills also has a very effective QB in Tyce Winchell (165.8 ypg and 13 TD’s). Running the football hasn’t been a issue either (224.0 ypg, 19 TD’s).

GRIFFITH 5-0 AT RENSSELAER CENTRAL 5-0…Two ranked teams are ready to do battle in week six. Griffith is ranked 10th in 3A, Rensselaer Central in 10th in 2A. The Panthers are balanced on offense (183 yards passing, 291.4 rushing). RB Desmond Neylon averages 225.4 ypg, and has scored 17 TD’s. Griffith is currently on a three game road trip. Meanwhile, the Bombers are 5-0 following a 49-0 win over Frontier. Running the football is their key to their success through the first five games (274.2 ypg). RB Landon Musch will be the workhorse again averaging 149.2 ypg and scoring 15 TD’s.
