FEVER LOSE AT NEW YORK
NEW YORK (Aug. 22, 2026) — The Indiana Fever (24-14) fell to the New York Liberty in the first game of a back-to-back. The Fever will now close their five-game road on Sunday evening, facing the Chicago Sky at 7 p.m. ET.
Indiana found themselves facing a seven-point deficit despite nine points from Kelsey Mitchell in the first quarter, down 33-26. The Fever began to cut into New York’s lead, outscoring the Liberty 23-30 in the second quarter, to make it a four-point game. Despite a high-scoring third quarter for Indiana, New York was able to extend their lead once again, taking an 85-78 advantage. The Fever were able to make it a tie game with 1:45 left, but the Liberty kept Indiana from completing the comeback, holding on for the win.

The trio of Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell recorded their ninth game in which they scored 20+ points apiece, extending their lead for the most 20+ point games by a trio in WNBA history. The game also marks the fifth time they’ve done so this season, also a league record.
Kelsey Mitchell extended her WNBA record for longest streak of 20+ point scoring games, doing so in her 22nd consecutive game, all this season.
Kelsey Mitchell’s 20+ point scoring game marked the 30th for her this season, now in sole possession of the second-most 20+ point games in a single season in WNBA history, four off the record of 34 games set by A’ja Wilson in 2024 with six games remaining.
Additionally, the game marked Kelsey Mitchell’s 140th 20+ point scoring game of her career, breaking her previous tie with Lauren Jackson for the 10th most in WNBA history.
With 25 points tonight, Kelsey Mitchell has now scored 937 points this season, tying A’ja Wilson for the third-most points in a single season in WNBA history.
Kelsey Mitchell recorded her 53rd consecutive double-digit scoring game, tying A’ja Wilson for the 12th longest streak in WNBA history.
With her three pointer at 6:35 in the third quarter, Caitlin Clark moved into fourth in franchise history for three pointers made, passing assistant coach Briann January (242). Clark now has 243 made three pointers in 87 games played.
With four assists, Kelsey Mitchell eclipsed 900 assists, just the third player in franchise history to do so, joining Tamika Catchings and Briann January.
The team scored 100+ points for the 17th time this season, extending their record for the most 100+ point games in a single season in WNBA history.
