Purdue men’s basketball has secured its highest-rated recruit in program history with the commitment of 7-foot, 210-pound center Isaiah Hill, as reported by Sports Illustrated. Hill is only the second 5-star recruit to join Purdue under Coach Matt Painter, the first being Caleb Swanigan, who committed as a 5-star in 2015. Having just completed his junior year at Pike High School, Hill will join the Boilermakers in 2027 after finishing his senior year. He is recognized as the highest-rated recruit from Indiana and the 14th-highest-rated recruit nationwide, according to 247 Sports. At Pike, Hill was coached by former NBA player and Pike graduate Jeff Teague. Teague, who played at Pike from 2004 to 2007, had a 12-season NBA career before returning to coach his alma mater in 2023. During his junior year, Hill contributed to Pike’s impressive 23-4 record and helped the team reach the regional championship, where they faced Mt. Vernon. Pike narrowly lost to Mt. Vernon, the eventual 4A state champions, with a score of 57-54. This matchup featured Hill against Mt. Vernon’s Luke Ertel, a 2026 Purdue commit and Indiana Mr. Basketball.
